Quinta do Lago is one of Portugal’s most beautiful private residential estates, with luxury villas and apartments set in 1600 acres of rolling countryside beside the Ria Formosa Nature Reserve, surrounded by golf courses and lakes and with a superb beach, all within 20 minutes of Faro Airport.

Victory Village is a small development of apartment blocks and villas, surrounded by attractive gardens, with distant views over the fairways, lake and sea. The Club has its own tennis courts and unheated outdoor swimming pool, with a poolside bar open during the summer for drinks, snacks and light lunches.

Our apartment is on the ground floor and sleeps four in one double and one twin-bedded room, each with its own en suite bathroom. Two more people can be accommodated on the sofa bed in the living room and there is a further small shower room and toilet for their use. The living room and one of the bedrooms open onto the private patio. The apartment is very well equipped with china, cutlery etc, plus a refrigerator, freezer, dishwasher, washing machine and steam iron, microwave, TV, Hi-Fi, video and DVD players and telephone. It is fully air-conditioned, with the addition of a wood-burning stove in the living room. The apartment has cable television receiving UK terrestrial channels and many UK and European satellite channels.

We supply all bed linen and towels with the exception of beach towels and in addition to these we suggest you bring a hairdryer and a 2-pin adaptor plug.

Quartier

The beach stretches for miles in each direction and is a 10-15 minute walk from the apartment, partly along a wooden walkway crossing the Ria Formosa Nature Reserve. This is an area well known for the wide variety of seabirds, waders and migrants attracted to it and there is a hide for birdwatchers and several marked nature trails.

The golf courses at Quinta do Lago are among the best in Europe and have been home to the Portuguese Open many times. If you wish to play on one of the courses a note of your handicap from your club is required. Other sports facilities in the area include squash, tennis, horse-riding and a variety of water sports.

Quinta do Lago has two shopping centres a few minutes drive from Victory Village. The smaller, older one, Bouganvilea, caters for the necessities of life with a supermarket, bank, newsagent, hairdresser and restaurants. The newer shopping centre, which is adjacent to Bouganvilea and is called Quinta Shopping, contains lots of designer shops as well as a pub and more restaurants. The choice of eating places in the area is huge. Hiring a car is essential as there is no public transport and it is advisable to book this in advance so that you can pick up the car on your arrival at the airport.

We are Mark (42) and Annie (40) with 3 children Kira (7), Ty (4) and Louie (4 months). Mark is a Dietitian and Annie is a Public Health Specialist.

We are about to move to the Tweed area of NSW where Mark has been offered a job. We are very excited about our adventure and would like to swap the apartment in Portugal for a place on the Far North Coast of NSW so we have somewhere to stay when arriving in Australia. Because the apartment in Portugal is a second home the exchange does not have to be simultaneous. You would be welcome at the apartment at a time that suits you.

Destination

As this is a second home the exchange can be non-simultaneous. Faro is near to the Spanish border and would make an excellent base to explore parts of Spain and the rest of Portugal.
