Maison

We own a gorgeous six-bedroomed stone shooting lodge with 640 acres of land in Mid Argyll in Scotland. The property also has three rental cottages, available for smaller parties to rent, which are attached to the house but all have their own entrances and are quite private. The main house is beautifully decorated and very comfortable, and is set in one of the most stunning areas of Scotland. Excellent walking, fishing ( we own four miles of salmon river ) horse riding, cycling and sight-seeing. A reall get-away-from-it-all holiday with roaring log fires in the winter and lovely sunny walks in the spring and summer. This is a very historic area with ancient forts, standing stones and ruined castles to see. Lovely restaurants close by.

Quartier

We are set up a quarter of a mile long drive, so it is very quiet. We are surrounded by gardens and fields, and the house is situated in a beautiful, quiet glen. The nearest house is close to half a mile away. the wildlife is lovely - we have buzzards, eagles, osprey, wild cats, pine martens and three types of deer in our forest. We are under an hour from Oban, with ferries to all the beautiful islands such as Mull, Islay, Colonsay and Gigha. This really is a breath-taking part of the world and ideal of anyone who loves nature, and wants to stay in a traditional, luxurious shooting lodge with every comfort including open fires, and luxurious king size beds.

I am an author and my husband runs his own media company. We have a website, appleyardmedia.co.uk where you can see pictures of us! We have two daughters, Beth, 19, and Charlotte, 14. Beth is at university studying Zoology and Charlotte is at boarding school.

Destination

This does not have to be a simultaneous exchange as we have other cottages available on the property, the dates are flexible - we would like to come to Cape Town this summer between the end of July and the beginning of September, to tie in with my daughter's school holidays. If you wanted our property at another time of year we can be flexible about that. Long term we would be interested in swapping with very interesting properties in France, Italy, Australia, New Zealand, Thailand, Switzerland ( we are keen skiers ) Austria and America.
