Maison

Our house is a detatched renovated French farmhouse partly in stone built around 1830. It is on 3 levels, the last floor being accessed by a small spiral staircase to an open mezzanine area with a double bed. The house sleeps up to 9 people, in 5 bedrooms. The 5th bedroom is a small box room with a single bed. There is a full bathroom on the 1st floor with a double shower and a corner bath. Another shower is on the ground floor with toilet and wash basin. There is a full kitchen with all mod cons. The sitting room is 40m2 with a cathedral beamed ceiling, a stone tiled floor and a modern wood burning stove. There is French and British television available. The sitting room has patio doors which open out to the deck where there's a bbq and eating area. The pool is an above ground pool with a ladder (8 x 5m). The garden/yard area is 2000m2. Accross from the pool is a small stone barn, with the hottub/spa and seating area/ bar area. The sauna is situated in another barn.

Quartier

We are in a rural area and it is very quiet. Our house has been descibed as a little haven of peace due to its tranquility. The local village is 3 mins away by car, and historical 16th century towns 15 mins away. The beach is also 10 mins away. Local cafes and outside bars are at these locations, if you want a taste of french life you have it. There is no public transport here, so a driving licence is definitely needed! We have beautiful rugged coastlines and white sandy beaches, but the water is quite cold!! The local chateau/castle is less than a minute from the door, infact you can see it from the upstairs window! Even though we are rural, we are a good base if you wish to visit Brittany and other Atlantic areas. We are less than 4 hours by train to Paris, and about 9 hours to the south of France St Tropez, 11 hours however to the Alpes! We are also 4 1/2 hours to Normandie.

We are a family of 4. I am english born and was brought up for half of my life in Great Britain, the other half here in France. My husband is American from New York and works as a deep sea diver, and our children 1 girl (2 1/2) was born here in France, our baby boy also (7 months old). We do travel quite a lot, more so to the States so that my husbands family can see the kids. We are looking to travel to countries that will be safe for the children, unfortunately for the next few years our backpacking rucksack lifestyle will take a back seat with them i.e can't for the moment envisage destinations such as India, rural South America, deep Africa etc, although we have visited these countries and find them very beautiful. We are looking to exchange with like minded people, down to earth and easy going. Our house is a family home, it's not a show home i.e we dont plump cushions or do silverware!! We have little kids, so children are more than welcome!!! Our house is and old farmhouse in the country ie some parts have stone walls etc it isn't a modern built house but a house with character and we love it. If it appeals to you do get in touch.
