Maison

Our home is in a small very clean university town with a pop. of approximately 7000. Our University is St. Francis Xavier University and is and has been the number 1 university in Canada for several years. Our town is called Antigonish and hosts the longest running Highland Games during July. We have a modest 3 bedroom bungalow and is in immaculate condition, and only a 5 minute walk from our charming downtown. We have two of the bedrooms upstairs and one down. Also downstairs is a playroom and bathroom/laundryroom room. Upstairs is a kitchen, dining room,bathroom and living room.

My husband and I have three children two of whom have attended university here and one younger girl who will be travelling with us. The older are living away from home now. There are many activities to enjoy while you are here including: a golf course (2 minute drive) several hiking trails, several beaches all between 15 to 30 min. drive and several musuems. Our town boasts some of the best dining in Canada. We are centrally located in Nova Scotia with the beautiful and picturesque Cape Breton Island to the east and our Capitol city Halifax app. two hours to the west. Our town and neighborhood is a very safe place.

Our neighborhood is a combination of young and old. It is centrally located and withing a five minute walk of downtown and no more than a 30 minute walk to our mall, pubs, university and dining areas. We consider our area safe and have never had any sort of crime at our home. Our children walk to and from school but have the option of a schoolbus when they are young. We do not have public transportation within the town because everything is reletively with walking distance.

Our family has to-date not participated in a home exchange. My husband and I would like to visit some place in France. Although we do not speak French at all all three of our children have attended French school. Visiting France, I believe , would be a wonderful chance for our daughter to practice the French language in an immersion setting. French here is said to be quite different and it would be nice for the children to experience the "real "French language and heritage. We will also be taking her classmate along with us. Our son has previously gon on a French exchange Program to Montreal, Canada. We have on several occassions taken French and Spanish exchange students to our home and have enjoyed it very much and are presently keep in touch with several of them. In keeping with this I think it is time for for myself and my husband to also experiences travel different traditions. The home exchange program ,I am hoping ,will afford us this opportunity.
