Maison

A modern three storey wooden fronted house on a private estate set in woodland. We have 5 bedrooms, two bathrooms and a downstairs toilet. There are two bedrooms with king size beds in - one en suite. There's a room with a cot bed for a child up to 5 maybe?? The other two rooms (used as our son's playroom and our office) have futons in. I think the accommodation could be quite flexible though - we can discuss what you need!

The house is well decorated (well we think so!) with wooden floors pretty much throughout. The garden is a fairly large patio area - our plan is to renovate it next year. It's big enough to have bbqs in, sit and relax with a glass of something and is safe and secure.
A fully equipped kitchen with washing machine, dishwasher (I love it so please be nice to it!!!), microwave and freezer
We have free internet access, cable television with a HD recorder, loads of books and an extensive, eclectic CD collection.
All we ask is that exchangers look after our home and leave it as they would wish to find it.... we promise we'll do the same!

Quartier

It is a short walk to a beautiful forest as well as an arts centre with a lake side setting. There are lots of open spaces/play areas around our neighbourhood for children to play in.
We are close to two big supermarkets.
Bracknell is superbly located for access to some impressive sightseeing! It is a beautiful twenty minute drive past Ascot race course and through the Great Park in to historic Windsor (Legoland too!)and about an hour by train from London Waterloo station and access to Eurostar to Paris.
Places of interest to visit nearby are Oxford (1 hour), The New Forest (1 hour) and the amazing World Heritage Site Jurassic coastline of Dorset (1.5 hours). It takes one hour to get to Brighton on a good day!!
You could take a boat trip down the Thames from Henley, visit the Georgian splendour of Bath (one hour down M4)! There's Stonehenge and Avebury both within two hours drive.
For the children - Marwell Zoo (45 mins), Odds Farm Park (30 mins), Coral Reef indoor waterpark (if it rains!!) 2 mins by car from our house. Thorpe Park and Chessington World of Adventures both within 90 mins drive from here.
I've got some books detailing walks around Berkshire and Hampshire which I'll leave - one of them is all about pubs you can visit too!
There are many fantastic restaurants in this area of the country including Heston Blumenthal's Fat Duck (30 mins drive) and Raymond Blanc's Le manoir (45 mins)....
Gosh - I've made it sound amazing... I almost don't want to leave!!!

À propos de nous

We are both secondary school teachers in our thirties and have a 2 year old son - all parents say this but our boy is an angel and really well-behaved so no worries about your house!! We are both house trained non-smokers and we recycle too! We don't have any pets but would be happy to look after a cat if you have one!
We love travelling but find it so expensive now we have a child so this seemed the perfect solution.
We enjoy cooking and eating/drinking lovely food and wine. As a family we love to be outside - preferably near water and/or the mountains.
We are very friendly, reasonable people - who would never dream of mistreating or disrespecting anyone's property - please be assured we are VERY reliable - promise!!

Destination

We are particularly looking for an exchange during August 2008 for up to three weeks in a warm place near some water, lovely scenery and plenty of things for us to do as a family. Completely open to offers as to where that might be - although Europe is our first preference - keep the airfares and carbon footprint down etc!!

The exchange would have to be simultaneous otherwise we'll be homeless!
