Maison

Our home is located in the suburban town of Gerasdorf, just outside the city limits of Vienna. Besides the two bedrooms, each with a queen+ bed, there are two offices with hi-speed Internet and wireless access; we also have digital satellite TV with channels in many languages. In addition to a living space of ca. 140sqm, there is a full basement and one-car garage plus parking space. The living/dining room opens onto a spacious deck, and there is a balcony outside the master bedroom upstairs. We have Biedermeier antiques, Oriental rugs and artwork in our home, and we make every effort to keep it in good shape. Our natural garden features wildflowers and fruit trees.

Quartier

Public transportation and/or park and ride by bus and commuter train or subway to the city is available. Vienna with all its cultural activities - 3 opera houses, 2 main concert halls, countless theatres and museums - is a short ride away, not to mention Salzburg with its festivals, the skiing and lake resorts in western and southern Austria. Vienna is conveniently located in the heart of Europe and is a perfect home base from which to explore the rest of the Continent.

À propos de nous

We are an Austro/American couple in our 60s. Guido is a retired software engineer and was in telecommunications management with a major European electronics company; Liz has a Ph.D. in Germanics and Italian and many years of experience in adult and university education and is also retired with some occasional assignments. We speak English, German, Italian, French and basic Spanish.

Our cat Chaussettes may be in residence and require some TLC. We will be more than happy to care for your pets, too. We are scrupulous about keeping a neat and clean household and will do the same for yours. In exchange we are seeking similarly well-maintained homes with exchangers who will take good care of our property, too. The garden will also require some yardwork during the growing season and in the fall. References are available on request.


We have just completed a delightful exchange with Seattle and always welcome offers, including long-term, from there since Liz is an ex-Washingtonian. Another favorite destination is New York City. At this time our house in Austria is not available through the rest of 2011, so we look forward to receiving offers for exchanges in 2012.
