Maison

We have a nice contemporary 2bdr 1 bath condo in the sought after NW DC neighborhood of Glover Park. Well maintained quiet 3 story building has 69 units. Our is on the 3rd (top) floor with big windows over lovely green courtyard. Like being in treehouse in summer. We have newly renovated kitchen, new flat screen HD digital TV, 2 ceiling fans (in addition to A/C) of course. Queen bed in the larger bdr, double sleep couch in 2nd bdr, which is set up as office with broadband internet access, printer etc. The west side of our building faces lovely park land (Glover Archbold Park - part of DC's Rock Creek Park), which has nice trails for jogging etc. Building has small simply furnished lobby with elevator and stairs. Plenty of washers and dryers on basement level for owners' use. Off street parking for one car - available for possible swap also. However, car is not necessary in this neighborhood, as much is within walking distance, and everything in city can be accessed by close bus/subway etc.

Quartier

Glover Park is a lovely treed neighborhood - totally residential with a mix of compact 1930's vintage porch townhomes and smaller condominium buildings. At the edge of the residential area (4 blocks from us) is a lively commercial strip with everything you need. Several award winning restaurants, a huge beautiful Whole Foods grocery store, post office, hardware store, drug store, health clubs/spas, book store, Starbucks, etc. Also neighborhood recreation center and small neighborhood school. Residents are nice mix of families, seniors, students, and young professionals. Glover Park is within walking distance of Georgetown and American Universities. Metro bus stop is 1/2 block from our bldg. 10-15 minute ride to Dupont Circle subway stop. 20-minute walk to historic Georgetown. A block down the street is Glover Park's lovely community garden, where we have a 17 x 25 plot. More than 200 gardeners tend 150 plots. It's one of the few original Victory Gardens in continuous use since WWII.

We're a newly retired couple in our 50s/60s, former govt. managers, just beginning to look at houseswap opportunities. We're very involved in our Glover Park community, where we've lived for quite some time. We love travel, biking, hiking, birding, gardening, reading. We speak some Spanish and French as well as English. We have 3 grown daughters.

Destination

Since we're now retired, we're very flexible about dates, locations, and length of stay. We're open to both short and long-term exchanges
