The Ardsley House: 100 year old 2 story - 2,300 sq foot - 4 bedroom - 1 1/2 bath traditional four square home. My home is very relaxing and I have it decorated in the arts and crafts style. The kitchen is large - dining room seats 6 - the living room is set up in two seating groups. I have two bedrooms set up with beds; master bedroom with a king size bed - guest room with a full size bed. I have a queen size air bed that can be set up for the third room. The fourth bedroom is set up as an office. The front porch is relaxing, and the two story back porch adds extra comfortable living space to the house. The house really takes care of itself and is easy to maintain.

I selected the area to live in because of the natural beauty and the outdoor activities in the area. Then I searched for the right house. . . a relaxing and spacious home. I am the third owner of the house. The couple that I bought the house from lived in the house for 50 years. . . and it was built as the Lutheran parish home. I have been carefully updating the house so it does not lose it original charm. The original oak wood work is lovely. And my collection of oak furnature adds to the richness and beauty of the house.

The house has a washer and dryer, 1 car garage, work shop, flower gardens, and vegatable garden. I have one 13 inch tv in the master bedroom (I am not a big tv watcher).

I have a kayak, canoe, and mountian bike at the house that can be used. I also have camping gear. There are 6 lakes within a 1/4 mile of the house, the St. Croix River is 7 miles away, and there are 3 Minnesota State parks within 20 miles.

The house is 40 minutes to the north of the Minneaplis/St. Paul International Airport. Duluth is 1 1/2 hours to the north still.

Quartier

I live in a vacationing lake small town of 3,000 people. The Chisago Lakes area of Minnesota has more lakes then any other part of Minnesota. The town and street that I live on look like a Norman Rockwell painting. My neighbors will all come to know you if you are there more then a week. The town is very friendly.

There are several restuarants and cafes in town, book store, antique shopping, and an excellent bakery. There is fine dining options and a movie theater 7 miles away in Taylors Falls. There are 2 grocery stores. There are several religous faith communities to participate in if you choose.

The area is about the outdoors. You can watch eagles and egrets, ski, bike, camp, hike, boat, fish or ice fish, snowshoe, snowmobile, ice skate, canoe, kayak, hunt. . . etc. Minnesota has year round activities to choose from.

And when you need some time in the city; St. Paul is 40 minutes away with the theaters and opera and Minneapolis is 50 minutes away with the children's science museum, art galleries, in-line skating in the dome and sporting events. It is easy to get in and out of the Twin Cities via Interstate 35.

I am a single person / 40 years old w/o children and no pets. I do not smoke. I love the outdoors, and I am an active person. I have a kayak, canoe, mountian bike, in-line skates that can be used.

I have my house in Minnesota and love it dearly, however my work requires me to be away from my house a lot. I am offering my house on exchange because my house is often empty. I love to travel but will not be able to take full advantage of using other people's homes. My house could be used for a SABBATICAL as well with some agreements made.

Destination

the exchange does not need to be mutual nor simultaneous; my house is open most of the year.

My house would be great for a sabbatical with an agreement made.
