Maison

Our home is a delightful 3 bedroom family home. It is located 50 metres from both the ocean and the river. We are the last residential street before the sea and have no houses in front of us.

Downstairs are two bedrooms, a bathroom, lounge, dining and kitchen/family room. Upstairs is another bedroom with an ensuite, with views to the ocean and the river.

We have a lovely safe garden; additionally there is a wonderful park on the seaside a short 3 minute walk away with a great playground for children of all ages.

Devonport is a small city of approx 25,000 which is the home to the ferries from mainland Australia to our Island state. Devonport is surrounded by lush green agricultural land and has a backdrop of ranges and mountains.

Tasmania is world renowned for it's pristine natural environment. Because we are a small island you are never very far from both the mountains and the sea.

Trout fishing is very popular in our thousands of higland lakes, and is very accessible. We have a second home situated on a lake which we may also consider swapping should you be interested.

Walking and hiking in our beautiful mountains is also very popular. Cradle mountain is an easy 1 hour drive. Cycling and motorcycling is also very popular because of our abundance of winding scenic roads !

Tasmania is also home to many music and arts festivals. Ten Days on the Island is a biannual event held March/April. Mona Foma January each year. Falls Festival between Christmas and New Year.

The new MONA (Museum of Old and New Art) is an easy day trip; and in our opinion well worth a look.

Tasmania has a wonderful friendly reputation; you will feel very welcome and safe.

We travel quite a lot so don't have any pets and the garden has an automatic watering system so there is no problems for our guests

Quartier

Our neighbourhood is delightful. We are metres from the water, both the Mersey River and the Ocean (Bass Strait) yet are a 10 minute stroll to the city centre. There are walking tracks around the river and also along the coast. A large playground and picnic area are a couple of hundred metres along the foreshore, as is a small sandy beach for swimming. Our neighbourhood is a quiet suburban one but the countryside is a mere ten minute drive away.

The nearest National Park is only 30 minutes away - where you can watch kangaroos, wombats and possums at dusk every night. Platypus can be seen a little further up the river and fairy penguins have a rookery a few minutes drive west.

The ferry terminal, which brings cars and passengers from mainland Australia, is just across the river; a three minute drive. There is a small regional airport, which has four daily flights to and from Melbourne, a ten minute drive away.

The city centre boasts several restaurants, a cinema, theatre, art gallery and maritime museum; all less than a ten minute walk.

Further afield, the whole of tasmania is easily accessible. Hobart, the capital of Tasmania, is an easy 3 hour drive. Hobart is a wonderful vibrant city with many attractions.

It will generally only be myself and my husband travelling, but occassionally our friends or adult children may like to come too. We are semi retired and like to spend our spare time travelling and indulging our passions; we like camping, fishing, mountains and the sea, visiting big cities and exploring new places. In other words we are happy in any environment. We enjoy life and meeting new people.



Destination

We will be travelling in Canada and the US in 2013. We have a couple of swaps already arranged for the west coast of Canada so are interested in other areas. We are flexible with dates as we have yet to decide what time of the year we will travel.

We hope to have an extended period in the UK (Scotland, England and Wales) in the warmer months in 2014. We are open to any destination; city or rural.

We are also interested in other countries (including different parts of Australia and NZ) so please do not hesitate to contact us.

We are able to do non synchronised swaps.
