Maison

This is a small, very comfortable house with excellent modern appliances and layout close to shops and a major bus route to downtown Seattle. It is in the Greenwood residential neighborhood north of downtown, within walking distance of grocery stores, movie theaters, neighborhood business district, and famous Green Lake park. It is on a quiet street with a large fenced back yard and landscaping. The house has a modern, open plan kitchen (gas stove/dishwasher/glass door cupboards etc.), a large backyard deck, wooden floors, and a bedroom and bathroom each on the ground floor and basement. Downtown Seattle is a 12 minute drive away, about 40 minutes by bus. No pets please. Car can be made available by arrangement. A great base for exploring the Seattle area and surrounding mountains and Puget Sound! (Nearest park with saltwater beach is 5 minutes away, the Cascade mountains off of I-90 are 50 minutes away.) I am single but have had guests stay comfortably before. I am also an excellent source of local travel tips, so feel free to ask!

Quartier

This is a true neighborhood where we know the neighbors and there are mostly small single family houses. There are lots of trees, good public transportation 1 1/2 blocks away, and it's quiet and friendly. There is a great new library within walking distance, as are many small restaurants and shops in the Greenwood business district, a ten minutes walk from here. (There is also a shopping center with a movie theater complex two blocks away.) There is great bicycling nearby as well, and Green Lake with its swimming pool and beautiful park.

I work as a Project Control Engineer for the regional government, involving major capital projects for environmental control of the region's wastewater system. I am very interested in world travel and wilderness travel. I have been to Europe, Central America, Australia and the South Pacific, and over much of North America. I love world cinema, art and culture, and my recreational interests are skiing, hiking, bicycling, kayaking, and running. I am learning Spanish but not fluent.

Destination

This could be non-simultaneous exchange if it's with just one or two other people, in which case I would act as your host and stay with you. (This could be sooner than the earliest date I plan to travel.) I am open to any possibilities but my current top interests for travel are Spain, France, India, and South America.
