Maison

We live in a quiet neighborhood in the heart of Venice, FL. We are within a 2 mile (~3km) radius of shopping and restaurants. We are also about a 5 minute drive to the beach!

Our house is 1850 sf on a lake and is 3 bedrooms with 2 baths. The master bedroom has a queen size bed with a Temperpedic mattress and the guest room has a queen size bed. Currently, the 3rd room is for our baby and it has a crib. Arrangements can be made to get another bed. We also have air mattresses if needed. No linens required....we have enough for all the beds.

The master bedroom has a bathroom with a walk-in Roman Shower, and the guest bathroom has a bath tub with a large vanity and 2 sinks. The guest bathroom is located in the middle of the 2nd and 3rd bedroom. All towels are provided. We also have additional towels for the beach.

The kitchen is very big with a table for 4. We love to cook, so it is fully equipped with everything you would need. The laundary room is off the kitchen and there is also a sliding glass door to get to the lanai.

The dining room has a large table and seats 8 people. The family room adjacent to the dining room has a large comfortable leather couch with a 42" flat screen TV. We also have a Blueray/DVD player and an XBOX for playing video games.

The living room has a comfortable leather couch and a leather recliner with a book shelf full of a variety of books.

The back yard has a large wooden deck overlooking the lake. It also has an orange tree where the oranges are perfect in December and January for eating or making juice. We also have a BBQ grill, a fire pit, and a hammock or baby swing.

We do have a variety of toys for kids under 2 and everything that goes with kids (high chair, stroller, bike seat, baby swing, small kiddy pool, etc). We also have 2 bikes that may be available...depends on where we go for the exchange.

Quartier

Venice Florida is located on the West Coast of Florida, about the middle of the state. It is where the Ringling Brothers started their circus and it is known as the Shark Tooth Capital of the world! You can go to our beautiful beaches and find handfulls of prehistoric sharks teeth (no need to worry about sharks though)!! We are also about a 30 minute drive from the #2 beach in the USA – Siesta Key Beach!

We are located about a 15 minute walk to the YMCA (a gym) where you can get a temporary pass. There they have a full gym, an olympic size pool, a skateboarding park, and raquetball courts.

We live in a golf course community where the club house is less than 1 mile away. There are also many other golf courses around Venice and surrounding cities.

We are about 1 hour south of Tampa where there is an airport, Busch Gardens Amusement Park, Lowry Park Zoo, Mosi Museum, Adventure Island, and much more. We are also about 2 hours south of Orlando where there is Disney, and all sorts of entertainment.

If you are flying in, the cheapest is usually Tampa airport - TPA(~1 hour north). There is also the Sarasota/Bradenton Airport - SRQ (1/2 hour north of us), the Ft Meyers airport about 1 hour south, the Orlando airport - MCO (2 hours Northeast), or the Miami Airport (3 hours south).

We may be able to provide a minivan with the exchange. If not, it is definitely suggested to rent a car.

We are a young couple (in our early 30's) with a 1 year old baby. We both graduated with a Civil Engineering Degree from the University of Florida. I (Sonya) am a practicing Professional Engineer and my husband (Jess) owns his own Contracting company.

We live a very active lifestyle where we enjoy biking, running, and competing in a variety of races. We love to travel and are excited at the opportunity to swap our home for others.

We have family on the east coast of Florida (Melbourne Area) where we may be able to arrange a place to stay for a few days to enjoy the Atlantic Ocean. It is only 1 hour east of Orlando, 1/2 hour south of Cocoa Beach, and about 45 minutes south of Kennedy Space Center.

We speak English and I speak Spanish.

Destination

We would like to travel between May and September 2011 for 1-2 weeks. We are open to any location and are flexible, so make us an offer. We would like to keep our travel costs down, so anywhere in the US or the Caribbean would be ideal.

We are also open to do weekend get-aways within Florida or may be willing to go out of state. I dare you to tempt us!
