Maison

My husband and I had this lovely 105 year old home completely renovated and landscaped the corner lot in 2008. It is charming, comfortable and really a fun family home. It is a two story, 3 bedroom home with two and 1/2 baths and an outside shower.


The downstairs of our home is completely open with the original staircase exposed in the middle of the space. The large Master bedroom (king size bed) is downstairs and has a complete bathroom with tub and shower. Our kitchen is complete with new Jen Air appliances and gas stove. We have a large screen HD TV in the main living space as well as gas logs.

The upstairs has one bedroom with a queen bed, one large game room/Bedroom with a queen size pull out sofa, and a loft office with a pull out bed. There is a full bath upstairs. Additionally, there is an upstairs balcony that overlooks the neighborhood. There are cable ready TVs in two rooms upstairs.

The washer/dryer laundry rooms is upstairs.

There is an enclosed outside shower that is delightful to use in all weather. Each floor has its own Heating/Air conditioning units. There is a usable gas grill on the back patio and two rockers and a hanging swing on the front porch.

In the garage we have two kayaks and 7 bikes for our guests to use. You can ride bikes to all the local restaurants and sites. Our neighborhood is very safe and the neighbors are friendly.

Quartier

Morehead City is a quaint fishing city surrounded by Bogue sound and Calico Bay just 5 minutes from the Atlantic Ocean. Sports fishing boats are docked in Morehead city and take visitors to the Gulf stream for deep sea fishing. Beaufort is just 2 miles south, and historical New Bern one hour north. The USMC Marine Corps Cherry Point base is 30 minutes north. You could take a day trip to Ocrakoke Island or Oriental or just spend a day at the beach or golfing.

The neighborhood can best be described as quaint. There are sidewalks everywhere and we are just two blocks from downtown. From the upstairs game room and the balcony you can see Calico Bay. Many of the homes are seasonal but we are fortunate to have year round wonderful neighbors. Directly across the street are meeting spaces for one of the local Church. We walk and ride our bikes to the waterfront every night and enjoy watching the boats or eating in one of the waterfront restaurants.

My husband is a semi-retired attorney and I am a school counselor at an Elementary School in Havelock. Ed enjoys golf and I love to read and cook. Now that our kids are grown, we're looking forward to doing some traveling. Our son is in New York city and we'd love to go there over the Christmas Holiday. We speak a tiny bit of french and spanish and are pretty good at charades.

Destination

We would like to stay in Manhattan, New York over the Christmas Holidays and would enjoy visiting Ireland, London, or Spain in the summer of 2011.
