Maison

One year old house with large, sunny deck off living area, in the cozy mountain town of Kimberley, BC. Four large bedrooms, two with king size beds, two with queens, master has a ensuite with jaquzzi tub, bathroom with laundry on main floor and another ensuite bathroom upstairs. Bright hardwood floors throughout, open plan kitchen/living/dining area with gas stove and granite counters- great for cooking and entertaining with a 9 foot bartop. The house is heated by furnace/central air and also has a big woodstove in the living area. All slate tile floors in kitchen and bathrooms are heated. There is a beautiful creek in the front yard, views of the local ski hill and private off-street parking.

Quartier

Although our house is set on .75 acre, it is only 10 mins walk to the 'platzl' our little Bavarian walking-only town centre! Kimberley is famous for its 'champange powder' snow thats light and fluffy, and is sunny, dry and crisp in the winters. Kimberley Alpine Resort is 10 mins drive from our house and is a great family ski hill open Dec to early April. Our neighbourhood is quiet and roomy, with mostly acreage properties, and single family homes. Kimberley is a friendly, relaxed town with amazing outdoor activities in summer and winter. Winter activites include, snowshoing (right from our property into trails) crosscountry skiing ( lit, set tracks about 10 mins drive) snowboarding and skiing at our local hill (or choose from many other hills within a few hours drive including Fernie) hiking, dog sledding, ice fishing etc. Summer is short and sweet July- Aug is usually between 23-28 degrees, sunny and dry. Fishing, boating, hiking, swimming at many lakes, biking and rafting are some of the activities you can enjoy without having to drive far. Kimberley has many local, unique restaurants and one of a kind stores to browse. You can fly into Calgary- 4 hours drive away or the International Airport of the Rockies which is 15 mins drive to Kimberley.

My name is Kate and my husband of 6 years is Sean. We are in our mid-late thirties and have spent the past year building our beautiful home here. Kate (Kiwi) is a Support Worker at our local school and Sean (Canadian) an Electrican. We have two huskies who will be staying with family/friends while you visit. We love snowboarding, wakeboarding, hiking, dirtbiking, and camping in our free time. We came to Kimberley 8 years ago to visit a relative and fell in love with this town, so moved here and havent looked back since.

Destination

Kates brother is getting married in Nelson, New Zealand in Feb 2011. We are hoping to exchange homes during that period of time. We could do a non-simultaneous exchange if neccesary as there is a one bedroom suite in our house also, depending on its availability.
