Maison

Our home is a 1600 sq. ft. house based on three levels in a modern exclusive development in Barna, a small village on beautiful Galway Bay, only 10 minutes by car to the seaside resort of Salthill and Galway city.

Living room, dining room and kitchen on the ground floor with double doors out to the garden. The first floor has three bedrooms, one ensuite and main bathroom with jacussi bath. The main bedroom is very spacious, ensuite with walk in wardrobe and occupies the entire top floor.

To the west of Barna, lying between the lake and the Atlantic, is Connemara - a region of superb scenic grandeur dominated by the rocky mountain range known as the Twelve Bens. A great many of the inhabitants are Irish speakers, and much of the ancient Gaelic culture is preserved.

Islands: The coastline is dotted with islands with the Aran Islands being the main attraction.

Lakes / Rivers: County Galway has several freshwater lakes, with trout, salmon and coarse fishing being the main attraction. The largest lake is Lough Corrib

Beaches: County Galway has several blue flag beaches. The largest beaches are found in the Roundstone and Renvyle areas.

Festivals: Galway is also famous for its many festivals, including the Galway Races, Galway Arts Festival and the Clarinbridge Oyster Festival

Quartier

Barna is a lovely village, with a large supermarket, health shop, hairdressers, chemist, cafe's, restaurants, a modern hotel 'The Twelve Pins' and a traditional Irish pub 'Donnellys'.
Be sure to visit O'Gradys on the pier restraunt which was awarded "Best Seafood Restaurant in Ireland" in 2008. http://www.ogradysonthepier.com/

A short stroll away from Barna is Silver Strand, a beautiful safe shallow beach which is one of Galway more popular beaches, there is lifegaurd on duty during summer months and on a windy day you'll see plenty of windsurfers and kyte boarders. There's also Barna woods, a beautiful woodland with the last of the naturally growing Oaks in the West of Ireland, myself and my wife enjoy this woodland walk at least a few times a week, even more if time permits it.

Furbo and Spiddeal are only a short drive away, both with their own beautiful natural beaches.

If you like Golf you'll be spoilled for choice, Barna has its own golf course, with many others nearby including Galway Bay Golf Course designed by Ryder Cup & PGA tour professional Christy O’ Connor Jnr.

So if your into nature, beaches, local and international festivals, culture, golf and so on, this could be the ideal house swap for you.

Myself and my wife are in our thirties, we have one small child, under 1.
I work in Financial Services, while my wife has doctorate of Science.
We enjoy good weather, beaches, nice walks, meals out and finding out about foreign cultures. We both have a basic level of Spanish, but we'd like to improve on this in the near future.

Before we had our first child we visited many countries including South America, Europe, the Maldives, Mauritius, New Zealand, Cook Islands, Fiji, The US and Canada and South Africa. So you could say we like to travel!

We will not be travelling with any other companions.
