Looking for Manhattan, NYC for approx 3 wks June - Aug 2011! I live in one of Brisbane's stylish and prestigious converted Wool Stores apartments in the riverside suburb of Teneriffe. Built in 1926 and developed in the early 2000's, the woolstore complex is called 'Saratoga', after the famous New York apartments of the same name. (Based on the converted warehouses in New York). It is a beautiful apartment, right on the river, and you are able to walk to practically everything. It’s very quiet but very central and convenient. The apartment is in a beautiful old heritage building, newly developed, while still maintaining the history and character of the old building. It has beautiful polished wooden floors, high ceilings and big wooden beams throughout the apartment, with new kitchen and bathrooms. The master bedroom has an ensuite and walk in robe, while the second bedroom (/library) has it's own full bathroom, including bathtub. The apartment has air conditioning (living area and master bedroom), ceiling fans in all rooms, and dishwasher, with a laundry (front loading washing machine and dryer) in the apartment. The building complex has lifts, a swimming pool, gym, sauna and outdoor barbeque area as well as friendly and helpful onsite complex managers. It is a secure complex (special access key required) and is private, while still being near everything you could want. I love living here and friends and family like to have a 'getaway' and come and stay when I'm away! as it's like a permanent holiday! :)

Quartier

The location is handy to everything and while I walk everywhere on the weekend (picturesque boardwalk along the river, weekend markets, theatre, cafes, restaurants, boutiques, bars, conveniences such as hairdressers, day spas, supermarkets), there are several bus stops on the street outside, and the ferry at each end of the street. There is a small park in the side street or a large park about 10 minutes walk, which is right on the river and very popular. The street the apartment is on is right on the river and has many beautiful old 'woolstores', which have now been converted into apartments. It is a trendy, upmarket area that has been 'renewed' to something vibrant and popular, while retaining its character and history. Brisbane is also a great location for nearby locations. You can find out more here: http://www.visitbrisbane.com.au While it has many attractions itself, situated on a beautiful river, with some great cafe precincts, it also has interesting tourist attractions such as theme parks, wildlife santuary parks and places of cultural and historical interest. It is also only 1 hour to the famous beaches of the Gold Coast (and Surfers Paradise) and only one hour to rainforests and national parks, or to the start of the beautiful Sunshine Coast and great boutique destination of Noosa and the picturesque Glasshouse Mountains region.

Hi, my name is Megan and I'm a professional who loves to travel and has lived overseas previously in Europe (French speaking Belgium) and the USA (Connecticut). I speak French but it has been quite a while! I hope to continue my travels with home exchanges, and have completed one to France in 2010 which was fantastic! I love where I live and I think you will too! I really enjoy being able to walk to a nearby cafe and have some time out. Brisbane is a great city, and there's so much in the region that you can visit. My family live in or near Brisbane, where I've grown up, even though we originally come from Sydney. I am in my 30's and I enjoy meeting new people, seeing new places and learning about different cultures and areas. I am responsible and respectful of other people's homes, having lived in other people's homes before (while living overseas), as well as having had people live in mine. Having travelled a fair bit already I know where I want to go next but at the same time, love to travel so I could end up somewhere different if the opportunity comes up! I currently live by myself but often travel with friends/family/partner, as well as by myself, depending on the circumstances at the time. I look forward to talking to you soon!

Destination

I hope to exchange to Manhattan, NYC during your summer (June - Aug 2011) for approx 3 weeks. If nothing suitable comes up I may look to exchange to Spain (Barcelona) so feel free to contact me if you wish to exchange. Thanks.
