Maison

Our house is built on two floors. Downstairs, we have a big open plan living area, including a very large dining table and a well-equipped kitchen. It has access to a very large garden with fruit trees and a large lawn. The garden is enclosed by ficus trees, so you have complete privacy. There is a corner office with a PC with high-speed internet access. Also a second TV. We have a large selection of DVDs, for children and adults.
Next to the kitchen is a washer and dryer. We have a dishwasher as well.
Upstairs are four bedrooms: One for the parents with en-suite bathroom; one room with twin beds for small children; One with a double bed. There is an additional bathroom with a large bath. There is a big balcony, where we put up a tent in the Summer; very romantic. Then there is an additional office with a computer with high speed access to the Internet. We have built a children's house at the back of the driveway, including a kids' kitchen.
We have an 8 year-old boxer and a rabbit. They are both very child friendly.
The house is on a "Dutch street", which means that there is no through traffic. Children, bicycles and cars share the road. We do have a gate, but it's mostly to keep animals and children at home.

Quartier

Shoham is a suburb of Tel Aviv. It's very green. It has a shopping area, which also includes medical offices, a pharmacy, supermarkets, and so on. A five-minute walk will get you to the local Country Club, which has to 25 mtr pools and a gym. There is a playground in a park just across the street. From there, you can roam the countryside.
It takes 20 minutes to get to Tel Aviv; 40 minutes to Jerusalem.
Oren's parents own a home near Shoham which has many horses for riding.
A few minutes away is a monkey park. The airport is 10 minutes away, but you rarely hear the planes.

Renée is Dutch; Oren is Israeli. We both studied in the United States - in California and Oregon. We have 4-year-old boy-girl twins. Oren works in financial high-tech company; Renée works part-time for a Dutch-Israeli charity. We love all kinds of sports, including sailing and skiing. Renée speaks English, Dutch, French, German and Hebrew. Can certainly read Spanish and Italian. Oren speaks Hebrew and English. His mother speaks Polish fluently.
We are open to any country in the world, but of course Holland is high on our list.
Otherwise, we would really like to swap houses with Israelis that live in other parts of the country. Sde Boker; Eilat; Tiberias, Golan. Just for a (long) weekend.

Destination

For longer vacations we prefer to go to Europe, especially Holland (the Netherlands). We also love Spain and Greece (mainland and Crete). Switzerland or France is an option during ski season. We love South America and would happily host people from these countries, but because of the expense of flights, it may have to be a three-way exchange.
Since we live in Israel, we are definitely interested in exchanges within our own country, especially the Golan, Eilat, the Negev and the Galilee. It would allow us all to have a change of scenery at virtually no cost. Our children - both 4 - are just a little bit too young to camp in the wild, and Israeli campgrounds are often crowded, especially during the holidays.
Oren's parents own a house in Sarlat, France. 17th Century, renovated with a big pool; stunning!
Our dates are flexible. In Israel summer holidays are long as are the Passover holidays (usually in April) and Succot (usually in October). These months are actually wonderful here. Not too hot; not too cold.
Israel is a fantastic holiday destination. Not just the Holy sites of three religions, but also a place where you can pursue many sports and other forms of entertainment: Windsurfing, snorkeling, sailing, climbing, hiking, horse riding, shopping, flea markets, cafés and restaurants. Tel Aviv has wonderful beaches and several board walks. You can bicycle for hours along the beach and parks.
