Maison

Our house is spread over 3 floors. On the ground floor, there is a double bedroom, a bathroom, an office, a playroom/4th bedroom and a utility room. There is a sunny, sheltered terrace off the playroom, which is lovely to eat lunch at. There is a fridge and kettle in the utility room, handy for making coffee or keeping drinks in easy access of the garden. There is a door from the utility room into the garden.

The middle floor is an open-plan living, dining, kitchen. It is very bright and airy, as it has large windows/sliding doors on 3 sides. There is a terrace off the dining area, which gets sun from 3pm - 8pm. We often eat dinner out there during the summer. The terrace looks directly out onto a beautiful, old chestnut tree, which provides lots of birdsong.

On the top floor, there is 1 double room, a large children's bedroom and a large bathroom.

The house is very well set up for young children as we have stair-gates, a cot, a travel cot, 2 high chairs, a double buggy and toys/games/DVDs for children up to 5-6. In the children's bedroom, there is a full-sized bed, an additional full-sized trundle bed, that pulls out, and a cot.

Our house is located on a quiet street, within walking distance of 3 villages and a 25-min walk to St Stephen's Green, the centre of Dublin.

Within a 5-10-min walk: supermarkets, pubs, restaurants, coffee shops, bakeries, butchers, cinema, swimming pool, greyhound racing, playgrounds and parks.

A 25-min walk into Dublin city centre, with museums, theatres, cinemas, pubs, restaurants, parks/playgrounds, Trinity College, Christ Church Cathedral, shops.

Within a 30-min drive: Dublin mountains (hiking, forests), larger parks (playgrounds, playing fields, public tennis courts), Airfield city farm, Phoenix Park (largest enclosed park in Europe - playground, visitor centre, coffee shop, bike hire, wild deer, playing fields, Dublin Zoo), Dundrum Shopping centre (largest shopping centre in Ireland), blue flag beaches, sailing, golf, horse riding, canoing.

Within a 60-min drive: Wicklow - Glendalough, Blessington Lake, Clara Lara, Powerscourt Gardens and Waterfall, Brittas Bay beach. Kildare - Historical houses, Curragh, Irish National Stud and Japanese Gardens. Meath - Newgrange, Boyne Valley, Hill of Tara.

The house is a 10-min drive from the M50, a motorway ring-road that links all the roads heading out from Dublin to all parts of the country. Galway is a 2.5hr drive, Cork is a 2.5-3hr drive and Sligo is a 2.5hr drive, perfect for an overnight trip.

Keith is an Architect and designed our home. Irial is a Management Consultant. We have 3 children. Our eldest daughter is 6 years old, our son is 3 and our baby daughter was born in June. As you can imagine, we know all the local playgrounds and activities for young children.


Destination

We are looking for a house with a swimming pool, private or shared, in France, Spain, Italy, Greece, Portugal or Malta. We would like to be within walking distance of a village.
