Maison

The appartment is new (2009), modern, confortable and pleasant. It is 120 m2 big. The building is fully new and was built in very good standards of quality. The entrance is safe, there is a lift. The appartment is on the 6th and 7th floor (duplex). You have first the entrance, wc, 2 bedrooms (1 with full bathroom and 1 with shower). There is a terrasse on the 6th floor. It is also possible to sleep above, in the living room. Above, you have alltogether the living room, the dining room and the kitchen + 2 terrasses. You may have a nap on one of the three terrasses and inside, it is full of light with big windows. It is ideal for a trip with friends or for a family (max 6 people).

L'appartement est neuf (2009), dans un immeuble neuf et de qualité. Très lumineux et agréable, le duplex est aux 6ème et 7ème étage avec une vue imprenable sur Bruxelles. Il y a un ascenseur, 2 chambres (dont 1 avec SDB et l'autre avec douche). Il y a trois terrasses au total, assez grandes, où il est possible de faire une sieste tant le quartier est calme. Au 7ème étage, il y a la grande pièce de vie avec la cuisine. Lieu parfait pour un séjour entre amis ou en famille (max. 6 personnes).

Quartier

It is incredibly quiet and yet located in the very historical center of Brussels : 300 m from the famous grand place and just in front of one of the most beautiful Horta house in Brussels (Centre belde de la BD). The small street is one of the oldest in Brussels and yet the building is new. You just walk to the splendid white Place des Martyrs, then through the Galeries Saint-Hubert to reach the grand place. The views are fantastic from the 7th floor : the grand place on ane side and the "belgian Manhattan" on the other. The City is small, so you get easily from one style to another at the same place. You just walk to the most interesting things to visit in the center but you get also easily public transportation if you want to visit other parts of the City. The central station is also very near and it is 1 hour 20 min to reach Paris (high speed train).

L'appartement est situé au coeur du quartier historique de Bruxelles, à 300 m de la fabuleuse Grand-Place et pile en face du Centre belge de la BD (maison Horta). Vous rejoignez les magnifiques Galeries St-Hubert à pied et au 7ème étage, vue imprenable sur le quartier Nord (Manhattan bruxellois). Les transports en commun sont accessibles au bas de la rue et la gare centrale est aussi toute proche, avec Paris à 1h20 (Thalys). Le quartier est très calme (sans être dortoir) tout en étant au centre. Avec le musée en face, une galerie d'art dans la rue, un resto espagnol et quelques cafés, le quartier est aussi vivant.

À propos de nous

We are Luc & Chantal. We are both belgian. Luc works for the railways and I'm working for a public administration in Brussels (in one district). We have no children. Luc is 51 and I'm 45. We like to travel and have interest for culture (arts, theater, opera). As we live in this new appartment sinds feb. 2009, we thought it would be nice to let it discover, together with the love we have for our city. We also made the choice to live with no car and no television ... and we are not bored. If you come to visit, we have family and friends and neighbors who can be there if needed of wanted. We would also be glad to prepare you a discover-pack with maps and a list of our favorite places (restaurants, musea ...). We speak french, duth, german and english. Luc speaks also italian.

Nous sommes belges tous les deux. Luc travaille dans les chemins de fer et Chantal dans une administration communale. Nous n'avons pas d'enfants. Luc a 51 ans et moi 45. Nous aimons les voyages et nous intéressons beaucoup à la culture. Nous habitons ici depuis février 2009 et nous avons envie de partager l'amour de notre ville. Nous avons fait le choix de vivre sans voiture et aussi sans télévision. Nous avons préparé de la documentation et un carnet d'adresses choisies (nos endroits préférés) que nous pouvons adapter selon les souhaits des personnes. Nous parlons plusieurs langues.

Destination

We have interest for a one-week exchange in july or in august 2011, with preference for july.

Nous recherchons un échange d'une semaine en juillet ou au mois d'août 2011, de préférence en juillet.
