Maison

We are looking for a non-simultaneous exchange. We will be in NZ from Dec 2010 to Feb 2011 visiting our son and his family in Katikati, BOP. Our house will be rented during this time, but after we return we can accommodate you either in our home in Ried im Innkreis, or our flat in Salzburg or both, and we will be on vacation during this time. Our roomy and friendly home on the outskirts of a charming Austrian town (ca. 13,000 inhabitants) offers all modern conveniences. Upper level has large eat-in kitchen, living room, double bedroom, smaller bedroom with sofa bed, bathroom, lovely sunroom and balcony.
The lower level has a guest room with a comfortable sofa bed for 2 and half-bath (toilet, sink and shower). Our property (2,000 m³) has a patio with garden furniture, and the garden provides lots of berries and apricots to pick in summer. Our efficiency apartment in the beautiful city of SALZBURG (1 1/2 hr. drive from here) is also included. (20 min. walk from the very heart of the city).

Quartier

Austria is the cultural and geographical heart of Europe. Experinece world-famous music tradition, opera, architecture, etc. Ried is a baroque town with numerous shopping facilities and restaurants, surrounded by unspoiled farming hinterland. Also the home of Austria's oldest brewery (est. 1434). Our home is right on the outskirts of town. Take liesurely walks through the countryside, hike in the mountains, ski in winter, sail in summer. The gorgeous lake district, Salzkammergut, is a 45 min drive, Vienna 2 1/2 hr, Munich 2 hr, the beautiful German town of Passau 45 min, Venice 6 hr. The flat in Salzburg is a perfect for base concerts, sight-seeing, skiing or hiking, drives through the beautiful Alps, taking a Sound of Music tour, etc.

À propos de nous

We are a newly retired couple (teacher and high school principal) and experienced travellers and house exchangers (9 exchanges). Teaching has been our love, travelling and having house guests our passion. We will have tons of information here for you on what to do, see and experience, how to get there, etc.
Hans is a native Austrian, and Marcia an American who has been living in Austria for 37 yrs. Our 2 children are grown (Heidi is in Vienna and available for any questions and help) and Paul lives in New Zealand with his family. We are non-smokers and have no pets. In October 2010 we will start a trip visiting friends and family in the US and be in New Zealand from December to the end of February, 2011 to be in or near Katikati, Bay of Plenty where our grandchildren are.

Destination

We are flexible on the dates. Our goal is to be in or near Katikati, New Zealand for Dec. 2010 through Feb 2011. We will only need something for a part of this time to give our son and his family a respite from us, as we would otherwise be together in the same house for 3 months!
