Maison

Our 3 storey town house was built in 2009 and is in a quiet location, within walking distance of all the town centre attractions. The 2 double rooms and 1 twin room are all on the top floor along with a family bathroom and one ensuite shower room/WC. The middle floor is open plan with a modern kitchen (including dishwasher and fridge freezer), dining area and sunny sitting room with great views of the park. We have a large flat screen TV with freeview and DVD player and can also offer WiFi access. The ground floor has a second, separate, large sitting room with patio doors to the small garden (still a work in progress!). Although small, this sun trap does provide a private outdoor space in which to take tea or enjoy a cold drink after a days sightseeing! There is also a large shower room and WC. There is private parking for 2 cars on the drive to the front of the house.

Quartier

Northumberland is the most northerly county in England (Alnwick being only 30 miles from Scotland!). It is known as the hidden kingdom as many people do not know where it is or what delights it has to offer.
Alnwick is an historic market town, home to the castle used in the Harry Potter movies AKA Hogwarts. It is also famous for the Alnwick gardens and one of the largest second hand bookshops in Britain, Barter Books.
By train from nearby Alnmouth station, there is easy access to Newcastle-upon-Tyne (30mins), Edinburgh (1hour) and York (1 1/2 hours) and London (3 1/2hours).
But why travel so far when Northumberland can boast long sandy beaches, many with castles, and great country pubs, all in an area of outstanding natural beauty?

À propos de nous

We are a married couple in our early 50s. One an Architect and the other an Education Consultant. We are keen to make weekend swaps in Britain but are also interested in travelling further afield during the school holidays.
We love walking, particularly in moutains or where there are not too many other tourists!

Destination

Weekend breaks in Britain at anytime (Friday night - Sunday).
Up to 2 weeks during any British school holidays - open to suggestions world wide, but prefer mountains and/or countryside, especially Scotland or any Spanish speaking countries.
Non-simulateous possible as we have a holiday home just outside the English Lake District National Park in Cumbria. (see entry 25406)
