My home is in the most desired neighborhood in Saratoga Springs. All the custom homes were built by Award Winning, John Witt Construction. Within an easy walk are restaurants, the library, Skidmore College, the post office, book stores, retail stores.

Albany’s Pepsi Arena, a venue for sports and entertainment is a 45 minute drive.
Saratoga Springs, New York is 3 1/2 hours by car or train from New York City, Boston, and Montreal.
4 hour drive to Newport, Rhode Island and Cape Cod.
Saratoga Springs, New York is a Victorian small city with a vibrant downtown that is an easy walk from my home, with restaurants of every price and specialty and great shopping.
The world-famous baths and spa that have drawn visitors for hundreds of years are still open.
Obviously, you could fly into New York City and spend time there before coming to saratoga. I have found quikbook.com an excellent bargain for NYC hotels. Or you could take Metro North to Tarrytown, NY, a charming city with resonable hotel rates, and take Metro North into the city daily. Hotels provide shuttles to the Metro.
If you chose to stay in Saratoga Springs with an overnight to NYC, you can drive to Tarrytown and take the Metro into the city. Again, quikbook.com is a good source for hotels. Tickets on Metro North for a 1 hour train into the city are $20.00 roundtrip.
Metro North also goes into the beautifully restored Grand Central Station on 42nd Street, an easy walk to the theater district or a $10 cab to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Guggenheim, and the Museum of Modern Art.

My husband and I are retired. I taught high school English and directed both the high school and junior high school musicals. My husband and I go to NYC at least once a month to see plays, musicals, and museums. We drive 2 hours south to the NYC local train, Metro North, and take the train into Grand Central Station ($10 each,) which is an easy walk to the Theater District, and/or take the subway or taxi to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Museum of Modern Art, the Guggenheim.
We also love the museums in Saratoga: The National Dance Museum, for instance, where we went for the induction of Tommy Tune. Yesterday, we drove to The Clark Museum in Williamstown, VT. the home of Williams College. The Clark has a wonderful Impressionist
permanent collection.
My husband and I walk downtain daily for coffee and the New York Times, and to pick up things at the pharmacy and grocery store. Saturday and Wednesday we walk to the Farmer's Market for Hormone-Free and Antibiotic Free meats and organic vegetables.
We love movies and drive once a week to the Delaware Theater in Albany, N. Y.(45 minutes) where we can see foreign films. Saratoga also has a film forum where we see
the best of foreign and indepedent films Thursday through Sunday.
I love to garden. My yard is filled with roses, lilacs, clematis, tulips, ect.
Harry loves to read. We have many books on art and literature.
We also drive to Boston once a month (2 1/2 hrs.) to visit my younger daughter who is working on her Masters to teach high school math.
My older daughter, who is getting married in July, teaches Saratoga High School orchestra and plays in 2 local symphony orchestras. She lives a few blocks away and will be available to you for any questions or help.

HOMES DO NOT NECESSARILY HAVE TO BE SWAPPED SIMULTANEOUSLY. Climates and special events are sometimes different.
WANTED:
ROME, FLORENCE, or AMALFI COAST for 2 weeks during April 2010 or May 2010
SAN FRANCISCO. 1 week in March 2010.
We plan to be in San Fransico, March 16 for 1 week and Santa Cruz beach or other area beach for the following week.
We also plan to go to Italy the last 2 weeks in april and the first 2 weeks in May. Ideally, we would like a house or apartment for 2 weeks in Florence and 2 weeks in Rome or the Amalfi Coast.
We would also exchange for 2-3 day weekends in New York City or Boston in May or June of 2010.
Each August, thoroughbred fans from all over the world, flock to Saratoga for the 3rd leg of the legendary “Triple Crown.” The meet runs from the last week of July through the first week of September.
August is also the summer residence of the Philadelphia Orchestra at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center
July is the summer residence of the New York City Ballet from July 5 through 20th, including the “Gala,” a premier celebrations of dance and music.
July is also the the best of Rock and Roll and Pop Music at Saratoga Performing Arts Center with performers like Bruce Springsteen,, Journey, etc.
July and August is the Victorian Pool a favorite retreat and Lake George, one of the most beautiful mountain lakes in the world, is a 45 minute drive.
June and the weather is beautiful. SPAC has a star-filled line-up.
September and October, upstate New York is fall at its best. Breath-taking color. Vermont’s quaint New England villages are a 1 hour drive, including Manchester, Vermont’s upscale clothing outlets.
