Maison

Our home is a four bedroom, two bath country house on 15 acres in Western Massachusetts. Built in 1812, it has about 2000 square feet, and is a combination of classical New England with modern amenities. There is DSL and Wifi (along with a computer if you need one), a projector for watching DVDs on the big screen, a lovely sitting area and a huge, modern, well equipped kitchen. Books are everywhere. Outside, we have a deck for enjoying the view on the big open field often frequented by deer, turkeys, and the occasional fox, a big garden, and an array of farm animals.

Quartier

It is a scant five minute walk to the center of our charming town (population 1800), complete with authentic general store, natural foods grocery/restaurant/breakfast/coffee shop, gas station, library, and gorgeous lake with beach. Nearby you'll find Shelburne Falls and its renowned Bridge of Flowers, glacial potholes, beautiful old theater, and fun shops. Just a little farther on are the vibrant college towns of Northampton and Amherst, replete with concerts, museums, bookstores, restaurants and much more. And a tiny bit farther than that (an hour's drive), you'll find Tanglewood, the summer home of the Boston Symphony, Jacob's Pillow (modern dance), the Clark Museum, and Mass MOCA (modern art). That is only a tiny taste of what Western Mass has to offer. In addition, Boston is a 2.5 hour drive and NYC is 3.5 hours. It's a really special and wonderful place.

We are a computer book writer and would-be farmer and artist. We have three children and divide our time between Massachusetts and Catalonia. We would love to find a similar family in Catalonia with whom to exchange. We speak English, Catalan, Spanish and some French and Italian.

Destination

We are especially looking for a rural or beach house in Catalunya (Catalonia Cataluña) where we can spend the summer with our kids and they might find other Catalan-speaking kids to hang out with.
