Our cliff top cottage is perfectly located for an exploration of the south of England including London (52 minutes), Canterbury (20 minutes) and all the charming resorts along the south coast such as Broadstairs, Whitstable, Rye, Sandwich, Deal, St Margarets Bay.

Stunning panoramic sea views from the lounge, kitchen / diner, garden and 1 of the bedrooms and situated on a quiet, friendly road, relax and spot the ships sailing the English channel.

The house is comfortable and cosy - a detached chalet dating from the 1920's but fully refurbished with 2 bedrooms, lounge, kitchen / diner, dressing room and bathroom, garage, parking for 2 cars and front and back garden. We can lend you bikes, our car and even a kayak. Flooded with light with a south facing back garden we enjoy spectacular sunrises and sunsets over the sea. For winter breaks, there is a cosy fire in the lounge and good central hearing as well as sturdy windows to keep out the winds coming off the sea.

Quartier

The "Garden of England" is on your door step at Cliff Top Cottage, and the county of Kent is an area steeped in history.

A quick trip to Paris, Brussells, Bruges, Lille or elsewhere in France or Belgium is perfectly feasible (and cheap) as we are just 5 minutes above the port of Dover on the famous white cliffs or equally close to the Channel Tunnel. You could be in Paris in 2 hours and London in 52 minutes by train. You will find plenty to do locally whether you stay for a few days or for many weeks / months.

One of the best coastal walks in England runs along the bottom of our garden. Our particular recommendations for places to visit would be the beautiful city of Canterbury, Rye, Dungeness, Deal, Sandwich, St Margarets Bay, Dover Castle and Leeds Castle but the opportunities for days out locally are endless.

The cliff top walks from the house are spectacular and there are many English villages nearby to explore. This is a beauty spot situated in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty where development is strictly regulated.

Take a 10 minute stroll along the cliff to the Cliff Top cafe and enjoy a morning coffee literally perched over the sea. Or enjoy a lovely dinner or drink in the Lighthouse gastro pub again just 10 minutes walk along the cliff. There is also a local shop, a weekly farmers market and 2 other pubs in the village. Our road is quiet and residential and the neighbours are very friendly. It is just a short 5 minute walk to the local bus stop with connections to Dover and Folkestone.

I'm an organiser of music festivals and my husband Nick runs our bed and breakfast business in Suffolk. We are both in our mid / late 30's and don't have any children. Due to the nature of our jobs, which are very seasonal in the summer, we are both able to take long breaks in the autumn and winter each year which is why we are so keen on house swapping. Our number one interest is travelling and we also love long walks, music, reading, cycling, architecture, history and art. Nick is a keen kayaker and bass player.

Destination

The length of stay is flexible.
A non simutaneous exhange is also possible with dates that you could come here from 1st June to 1st September 2010 while we are away working although we are keener on a simulteneous swap.
We are keen on a car swap.
We are keen on New Zealand, South America, the US, Central America but we would consider any destination at all and we are open to all offers.
