Maison

Our home is located in the beautiful and upscale city of San Mateo. We are just 20 minutes south of amazing San Francisco. Our home has a beautiful and spacious master bedroom with a bathroom that has dual shower heads, body jets and a rain shower. Relax in there after a full day of exploring the area. The second bathroom has a spacious shower with great water pressure and enough room to spread out. We have a separate room with a computer with high speed internet, scanner and color photo copier.
The kitchen is fun and has a vintage vibe to it. There is a microwave, oven and cooktop, a large refrigerator to accommodate the food from all of the delicious local restaurants and gourmet markets. Also enjoy using the dishwasher and leaving more time to play.
Off of the kitchen is a separate dining room with a dining table that can accommodate up to 8 people.
The living room is very comfortable and has a leather sectional just waiting for you to take a nap in or snuggle up and watch a movie. The wood burning fireplace is the focal point of the room. Light it, turn on some music on our well equipped sound system and relax.

The backyard has a beautiful table a chairs to sit in and eat in the gorgeous California weather. There is a fire pit so you can stay outside and enjoy the night time.
Speaking of weather...the temperatures here in Northern California are extremely temperate. No snow here. Sunshine more often than not.
We are including our car in the exchange. It will greatly enrich your experience here. Take it to Napa, which is about an hour and 15 minute drive. Drive to Los Angeles. It's about a 6 hour drive.
You won't be sorry you chose our house. It is cozy and inviting and the area is beautiful!

Quartier

Our neighborhood is so inviting. We fell in love with it, and we know you will too. It has lots of families that are committed to living in a clean and respectful environment. There is a beautiful park just up the street, with tennis courts and a skate park for kids. We live a few blocks from a gorgeous mall. There are so many delicious restaurants within a five minute drive. We will leave menus and directions to all of our favorite spots for you to enjoy.
We are located just 20 minutes south of San Francisco. So you can go into the city and enjoy the amazing sights and attractions. Then return to your home where you can enjoy spreading out and relaxing after a full day of exploring.
If you love the ocean, like we do, that is just over the hill. You can be there in 20 minutes, enjoying a hot cocoa or a beer in one of the great local spots. Here's a link to one of our favorite pub hangouts in Half Moon Bay: http://www.hmbbrewingco.com/

We are Mark and Mandy and we have a 6 year old and a 2 year old daughter. We look forward to showing our children what the world has to offer.
We are both retired police officers (we both were injured on the job and were lucky enough to receive medical retirements). Mark is also a pilot, who teaches people to fly small aircraft.
We are very open minded and love the idea of exploring the world and learning about people from all walks of life.
We want you to know that we are very trustworthy and forthright people. If we say we are going to do something, or describe something a certain way, that is the truth. We pride ourselves on our strong morals and are looking forward to exchanging our home with a family that operates the same way.
We participated in a 3 month home exchange in Germany in the Spring of 2011. What an adventure. We loved it and are looking forward to the next one!
