Our home is on 2/3 acres right in the HEART of Austin, Texas in beautiful "Sunset Valley," a National Dark Sky City (we have no streetlights so you can see the stars at night). Ten minutes from the sights downtown. One-half block to Sunset Valley Farmers Market, ranked in Top 10 farmers markets nationwide. Neighborhood is safe, close-patrolled by our very own Sunset Valley officers, quiet, green. We have an award-winning rainwater collection system and have been drinking our own purified rainwater for 3+ years. Office downstairs has computer & internet connection. FOUR BEDROOMS upstairs, including PRIVATE MASTER BEDROOM w/private bath. LARGE kitchen. Spacious, vaulted ceiling. CENTRAL AIR-HEAT. Garage + carport. We have cats. Handy downstairs bath. Bathtub in upstairs bathroom. Roomy closets upstairs. FLOORS: downstairs, Italian porcelain tile. Upstairs hardwood flooring. Loads of windows & house is flooded with light. Ceiling fans. No television-- we read.

Citywide bus route is a 6-block walk. Neighborhood is safe, close-patrolled by our very own Sunset Valley police officers, quiet community, green. One-half block to Sunset Valley Farmers Market, ranked in Top 10 farmers markets nationwide. Street is one-half-mile long so is lovely for a nice walk or jog. 200-acre greenbelt adjoins our backyard, with loads of improved walking and biking trails. Sunset Valley/Austin is close-in, close to Interstate Highway 35, quick trip to San Antonio or Dallas, Houston and the Gulf Coast. Close to 3-mail hiking trail around Lady Bird (Town) Lake and 5 minutes to natural swimming at Barton Springs natural unchlorinated pool-- the LARGEST natural municipal swimming pool mineral springs in the USA! Close to our local free lending library.

I am a fulltime author, permaculturist, sustainable living author, currently working on my fifth book. This home is a PermaCulture home-- we capture greywater, rainwater, and host educational classes on making homemade kombucha tea, homemade ginger ale, and rainwater purification. A chiropractor by training, I am interested in lacto-fermented foods. I am an amateur cook, avid reader and film and sailing buff.

Destination

Dates are flexible. I can be ready to travel with a quick notice. We can participate in a non-simultaneous exchange-- there is plenty of room for us to host you if you want to come over and stay with us. LOOKING TO EXCHANGE with TUSCANY in ITALY.
