Maison

Come stay at our comfortable Manhattan family apartment on the Lower East Side, close to subways, buses, and even highways (for weekends out of New York--otherwise, no need to drive). But will you hear all the action from the nearby restaurants, museums, and art galleries? You will not! This apartment is located on quiet (by New York standards) streets, surrounded by trees. Sit in our window seat and have a cup of coffee while the squirrels scamper on the trees out the window. A family of four or five would be very comfortable, with the queen bed in the bedroom and low bunk bed, appropriate for young children if need be, plus a crib in the kids' room. Our home has a large kitchen by Manhattan standards (approx 7' x 14'), with a gas stove, large refrigerator, and granite countertops. Bamboo floors, nice lighting. Lots of books. Internet access. We'd prefer a kosher or vegetarian family, but not required.

Quartier

We're on the hip, happening Lower East Side! We're near Chinatown, The Pickle Factory, Katz's Deli, the New Museum, East River Park, South Street Seaport, and much, much more. Gourmet doughnuts! World-famous bagels and bialys! Cupcake bakeries! Essex Street Market! Free summer events abound. There are two private playgrounds in the complex and many additional ones within walking distance. Public library, supermarket, post office, bank, cafes, restaurants, and giant playground on our block (no need to even cross a street). We love living here, and you will, too.

We're a family of four, two parents, two children, ages 1 and 5. We're currently unemployed and taking advantage of that by traveling.

Destination

We're looking for a family home in Melbourne, Australia, July 8-August 23. Must be near public transportation. Preferred neighborhoods: Caulfield South, Caulfield, Caulfield North, Elsternwick, St Kilda, East Brighton, Bentleigh, Ormond, Carnegie
