Maison

Our home has been newly refurbished and has all modern conveniences. There are four bedrooms, [one en-suite] one bathroom and a separate toilet. The study doubles as another bedroom if wished. The kitchen and sunroom are southfacing catching all the sunshine. The living room has a multi-fuel stove and can be used separately from the central heating. The house is heated by an oilfired central heating system. There is a new dishwasher and washing machine and microwave in the kitchen. Our house is situated in a large site and is self contained. There is space to park many cars in the drive. Come and enjoy our home.

Quartier

Our house is situated in the village of Newtown beside a main road. This is a quiet friendly village 4 miles from the town of Charleville. [Pop. 4,000] There is a church, school, pub and two shops within walking distance of our house. We do our shopping in the town of Charleville in one of the large supermarkets. There is a sports field within 300 m of our house where qaelic games of hurling and football are played. A walkway surrounds the fields where an uninterrupted walk can be enjoyed. The people of our parish are very friendly and our neighbours will be delighted to help out if necessary. Public transport is available from Charleville to the nearest cities Cork [60 km] and Limerick [40 km]. The nearest airports are Cork and Shannon [50 km] Ryan Air flies from both airports.

Attractions within easy reach:
Charleville Golf Club, 27 holes, 2 km [I can arrange special rates] There are many other excellent 18 hole golf courses within easy reach. Walking paths have been developed on nearby mountains for the walking enthusiast. Doneraile National Park 20 km. Bunratty Castle and Folk Park 30 km. Beaches at Ballybunion and Ballyheigue.50 km. Blarney Castle near Cork City. Swimming pool in the Charleville Park Hotel Charleville. There is a direct rail line to Dublin with a connection in Charleville if you wish to visit our capital city. There are many other attractions in both Limerick and Cork and their environs. For those interested in history there are prehistoric remains in Lough Gur 20 km.

À propos de nous

Mary and Michael Harrington here. We have 4 children and all four are grown up and live away from home. I am a retired teacher and my wife Mary still works as a secondary school teacher. We have a black Labrador called Caesar. We enjoy all outdoor activities. We walk, swim and play golf regularly. We enjoy our National games and go to hurling matches as often as we can. Of course we support Cork. We speak Irish and we love Irish music and drama. We love to travel and we have been to western France many times. We also holiday in Lanzarote regularly. I love classical music and we go to the opera regularly in Cork. We like gardening and we try to keep our garden as colourful as possible. This is our first time seeking to exchange our house and we look forward to exchanging wih you.

Destination

Our dates are flexible between departure 15 July 09 and return 12 August 09. we can only have a simultaneous exchange. We would love to exchange with someone living in Western France, preferably in the Charente Maritime or the Vendee regions. We would like to be near a beach. We know those areas well as we have holidayed many times in places from St. Jean de Monts to la Rochelle and have very happy memories of these areas. We haved a pet dog but the dog will be in a kennel while you visit. We are a non smoking couple and we would prefer not to take care of pets. We would like a house with 3 bedrooms and normal modern conveniences.
