Our inner city apartment is very conveniently located to enjoy all that Sydney offers. It is in Jacksons Landing, a planned community developed on a historic site of a sugar refinery near the harbour. Shared facilities include an indoor heated pool, an outdoor pool, two gynmasiums, a tennis court, barbeque facilities and a community centre.
The apartment has 2 bedrooms, one with a queen size bed and the second with two single beds and two more single trundles that can be utilised. There is a modern bathroom and a fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher, a washing machine and a dryer. There is also a loungeroom with water views and a small balcony and a dining area. The apartment has been recently renovated.
There are lots of restaurants and cafes, a theatre and supermarket within 5 minutes walk and close by (also within walking distance) is the tourist precinct of Darling Harbour, and also the Fish markets with their fresh seafood and restaurants.
There are a lot of open green spaces and cycle ways within the Jacksons Landing development and a delightful harbourfront walk from the apartment to Darling Harbour and then pedestrian access into the heart of Sydney.
A public transport network services the area, providing efficient rail and bus connections to the city.
The apartment is our second residence that we use to visit the city so the exchange could be non concurrent.

Quartier

The immediate neighbourhood of Jacksons Landing, in the suburb of Pyrmont, has a surprisingly "country" feel for an area so close to the city. As it has been a planned community it embraces the need for green spaces and family friendly areas and there is a strong sense of community to the whole area. There are community events and activities that can be enjoyed on a weekly or irregular basis and it is a good way to feel like part of the community.
Sydney is a beautiful harbourside city that is well known for its landmark buildings of the Opera House and Harbour Bridge and there is a network of ferries etc that allow visitors to explore its magnificant harbour. There are the botanical gardens to explore as well as fine art galleries, museums and areas displaying our cultural heritage.
Sydney is famous for its many beaches, some great for surfing others that are secluded and can be enjoyed without the crowds.
Sydney is also a good base for exploring other areas of Australia either by air, train or in a car.

We are a family of four. Graham is an accountant and Ruth a literacy teacher and we have two sons Kyle and Mitchell
Kyle is currently studying at university and may not be travelling with us, Mitchell is 12 years old and excited about the prospect of an exchange.
We enjoy a country lifestyle especially water based sports and boating as well as reading, music and just exploring new places.
