Maison

We live in a quiet area with wonderful neighbours, some of whom have travelled extensively.
Our home has:
# 4 bedrooms, all with double / queen sized beds; single or bunk beds can be organised if needed;
# a main bathroom and an en suite and toilet off the main bedroom;
# 2 other toilets separate to the bathroom;
# fully equipped laundry - automatic washing machine, dryer, iron and ironing board;
# a well equipped kitchen - we both love to cook;
# a large living area with LCD TV, computer and broadband internet, stereo for music;
# a verandah that we use for relaxing, eating meals, reading and feeding the wild birds - parrots, magpies, kookaburras, etc. There is a barbecue on the verandah;



Quartier

Our home is in a quite area that has so much to offer for those who love the outdoors and nature:

# the beach is 5 mintues away; it is never crowded and often we see dolphins and whales when they are migrating;
# the Bellinger river is 5 mintues away. It is great for kayaking (we have 2 that you can use) and fishing;
# the national park is only a couple of minutes walk away. We walk along its various trails for exercise; here you can see wallabies, goannas, koalas and a large variety of native birds;
# Bellingen is only 15 mintues away. It has many cafes and restaurants and interesting specialty shops. There is always something happening in Bellingen - markets (one of the best in Australia that is held the 3rd Saturday of each month); live music; jazz festival, Global festive (World music); organic food market; etc
# The World Heritage National Park at Dorrigo is only 40 minutes away. Here you can walk in the rainforest and on the tree tops boardwalk
# Coffs Harbour is 15 minutes north. Here you will find all the shops you need and all essential services. You could visit the Pet Porpoise Pool (and feed the dolphins) or the beautiful beaches and many cafes and restaurants.
#From Perry's hill (just up the road) and from on the river there are beautiful views of the valley and mountains;

We feel that we are miles from nowhere yet have everything within 15 minutes that we need.

À propos de nous

We are a family of 5. Tom is retired now and loves using his time to kayak, fish, walk in the forest and on the beach. I am a teacher of textiles and hospitality and am having a year off to travel and explore my creative textiles. Our children are all living away from home to attend university.
Laura is 19 and doing Primary teaching at Armidale university (2 1/2 hours west). She is in 2nd year
Our son Michael is also in his 2nd year at university (in Queensland) where he is studying Business Management. He competed in the paralympics (swimming) in Beijing last year and won a silver medal in the 100m backstroke. He trains very seriously 6 days a week.
Jen, our eldest daughter, is studying Bachelor of Languages externally and is living in Paris. This in one reason we wish to go to France later this year.

Destination

We are wanting to be in London for the Paralympics as our son hopefully will be swimming in them (barring injury). Tom and I are open to being out of London a bit as long as there is easy access to public transport and it doesn't take too long to get to the Olympic site. Although I have put dates for about 15 days as this is all we need in London, our home will be available for about 4 weeks so dates are slightly flexible as to when you stay in our home. A non-simultaneous exchange could possible be negotiated at some other time also.
