Maison

Our home is a traditional renovated two storey farmhouse, with a wrap-around conservatory. The house has four bedrooms and two bathrooms, with a homely kitchen and a solid fuel range for cooking and heating (we will supply the wood). There is also an electric cooker for everyday use. There is a dishwasher, washing machine and dryer. We have a large garden around the house with oak, ash, apple, plum and pear trees in the front garden (you can pick when in season!!). We have a cottage with space for two people if needed, it also has a kitchen/living area with gas cooker, sink, fridge, stove etc. There is a vegetable garden at the back of the cottage and many fruit bushes. There is a trampoline and a swing and lots of toys and games for families if they want and we also have a car for use when here. Our house is about a 40 minute drive to the closest airport, Shannon Airport, and about 25 minutes to the closest large town, Ennis.

Quartier

We live in a rural area with the closest nieghbour about 200 meters away. All of the nieghbours are very friendly and are available if you need help finding places. We are off the main road and live about 3km from the closest village each way. There is a large golf club about 3km from where we live and many lakes and rivers that are good for fishing. The biggest lake near us is Lough Derg where you can swim and do water sports and rent boats. Lough Derg is only a ten minute drive away. We live on a small mountain which is very suitable for long hikes or nice short walks. The Atlantic coast is only an hours drive away.

I am from Germany and have lived in Ireland for over fifteen years and my long term partner is from Ireland. He is a computer programmer. We have three children, two girls (14 and 12) and one boy (3). We also have 2 cats and 2 dogs and 1 horse. You do not have to mind the dogs if you don't want, but they are very nice and friendly. The cats have to stay around the house, but we can have them fed if you prefer. The horse is looked after by the farmer next door, so you don't have to worry about it.

Destination

Our preferred destinations would be Spain, Portugal or Greece, but we are open to all destinations. We are hoping to go away for two or three weeks in August, when the children are on holidays, but we could try other dates, possibly in September or later in the year as well. We could do a non-simultaneous exchange if somebody was interested to stay in our cottage, but it can only sleep two, max. 3 people.
