Wonderful house in exclusive suburb 2 miles from Dublin city centre yet across road from beach!

Maison

Our home is in Sandymount, Dublin , a great location just 2 miles from the city centre but in a lovely village setting within the city. It is set on the beach road, just across from Sandymount Strand. This area is quoted in James Joyce Ulysses and had many historic links. Shopping is around the corner in Sandymount village all within walking distance.

The house itself was renovated two years ago when we moved in and has a very large , light filled kitchen and living area with granite worktop island and fully fitted modern kitchen.

The living room has an open fireplace where you can have an open fire. The house has central heating so the open fire is optional.

A Tv and an option to watch movies on large screen exists in the living room

A modern toilet lies off the hallway.

There is off street parking at the front of the property, and a garden at the back.

There are three bedrooms on the first floor, the front main bedroom with a bay window.
A large bedroom at the back has an ensuite bathroom with electric shower.
This room could also accommodate a cot or a small bed for a child.

Both these bedrooms have a double bed in each.

There is also a front room on the 1st floor which has a single bed.

The main bathroom is on the first floor with deep bath.

The attic has been converted and has a futon which opens up to a double bed.
In total the house can hold 7-8 people(e.g. 6 adults and 2 children). The attic has an ensuite with pressure shower.







Quartier

Our home is set on the beach road, just across from Sandymount Strand. This area is quoted in James Joyce Ulysses and has many historic links. Shopping is around the corner in beautiful Sandymount village with it's quaint village green and friendly shops, all within walking distance.

Enjoy many good walks on the beach or around Dublin bay. Follow the coast road out to the beautiful sights of Dun Laoghaire, Dalkey and Killiney. Further south is the beautiful county Wicklow where visitors can see the renowned Powerscourt Gardens and Waterfall.
The Dublin Mountains are within easy access for hiking, and afterwards relaxing in Johnny Foxes pub for a pint of Guinness.

The house is also within easy access of the shopping and the lively nightlife of Dublin city. This can be accessed by trains that go every half hour, by regular buses or if you feel like a stretch of the legs, abut a 30 minute brisk walk.

We have two children aged 3 and 5 and welcome families with young children. We have a small back garden which gets the best sun in the afternoon and evening where you can relax and have a read of a book or where the children can play. Across the road is a very nice park area including football pitches on the left and the famous Sandymount strand is just to the right. There are swimming pools in the area as well as tennis clubs and traditional Irish games are played nearby, gaelic football and hurling.

The house has easy access to Ballsbridge known for its embassies including the American Embassy. Dublin is known for the music and entertainment, theatre and plays as well as many music concerts where well known names play, all within easy access of this house.

We are two adults, Ian and Ria and our two children Daragh 6 years and Aoibhinn 4 years who are interested in doing an exchange.

We hope you really enjoy your stay at our home as we feel it is a great location and a great house, good for cooking, relaxing and wining and dining guests.

It is a work home place for us as Ian and myself work mostly from home.

For Daragh and Aoibhinn its great, because its very near schools and creches and also sports just across the road, Gaelic football and hurling as well as many beach walks and close to a nature reserve.

We speak Irish English and some French.

Our interests include meeting new people, networking, travelling and investing.
We enjoy visiting new destinations and hope people get a flavour of Ireland and the Irish culture whiel stayng at our house.

Destination

Our ideal location for a home exchange is Manhattan, New York for Easter 2011, however we are also interested in home exchanges with France, Spain, Croatia, Greece etc. anytime from August 2010 on.... we look forward to hearing from you!
