Maison

The house itself was built in 1935 and has always been in our family. It is wheelchair accessible. It has a full unfinished basement (which is full of sailing and sporting equipment inlucing a canoe!). The main level has a den, kitchen, pantry, two piece bathroom, diningroom and livingroom with fireplace. The second level has three large bedrooms and a four piece bathroom. The top floor is an open concept, finished attic with built in beds, desks etc. All levels have cable and internet.

Quartier

Our home was one of the original homes built in the heart of "Old Bedford". It is situate on an oversized lot with mature trees and vegitation, backing onto a twenty acre nature reserve. It has a private and secluded feel, despite being a ten minute walk from downtown Bedford and a fifteen minute drive from downtown Halifax (capital city of Nova Scotia). For sailing enthusiats, it is a five minute walk to the Bedford Basin Yacht Club (where we moor our boats, if you are a sailor).

In the winter, we overlook the Bedford Basin. When the vegitation fills in, we loose this view (expect to see a glimpse of the water through the trees). Everything turns very green and lush and it feels like you are in the country. However, if you walk to the bottom of our street (there are only 8 houses on it), you will find a fabulous bakery/cafe on what we call the Bedford Highway (a two lane highway that follows the ocean to downtown Halifax). From the bakery at the bottom of our hill, you can turn left and walk to downtown Bedford. It will take you about ten minutes. There you will find two shopping centres, restaurants, a large grocery store, a liquor store, banks etc. Or, from the bakery, you can walk across the street and head down Shore Drive to the Bedford Basin Yacth Club. It's about a five minute walk. If you turn right from the bakery, you head towards downtown Halifax. You can either drive along the Bedford Highway (it will take about 15 minutes) or you can take the metro bus (cost is $2.00 CDN per person). The bus stop is located on the other side of the bakery/cafe I previously mentioned.

We have a VW Passat that we are willing to swap as well. The car is in great condition and has roof racks if you want to transport the canoe around.

My husband and I are in our mid thirties. We have no children and no pets although we have twelve nieces and nephews and love animals! We keep a fully stocked toy box in our house at all times!

My husband's family originates from Scotland. We would like to travel there this summer and do some visiting and exploring.

I am the solicitor for the Public Trustee of Nova Scotia. I teach business law part-time at a local university.

My husband was a professional sailor and now works for the Minister of Finance for the Province of Nova Scotia.
