Maison

Our sunny, open, 2-storey house has many windows and vaulted ceilings. A loft on the second floor includes a 50" plasma TV and three popular game consoles that are sure to meet all your entertainment needs (XBox360, PS3 and the Wii with many games). We have a large kitchen complete with stove, microwave, fridge and freezer. We have a front loading washer and the drying center. The office on the main floor has a computer and Internet access.

The master bedroom includes a walk in closet and access to the bathroom-complete with shower and a 2 person jacuzzi tub. There is a king sized bed in the master bedroom and a double bed in the second bedroom. We also have sleeping bags and a futon mattress to accommodate two more people. There is also a gas fireplace in the living room on the main floor. We have a propane barbecue too.

Use of small car (seats 5) - standard transmission (includes one tether bolt for car seat) and detached garage. If you have your motorcycle license, we also have a Suzuki Boulevard M50 cruiser motorcycle and all the gear for two people.

We have a couple of plants, that would appreciate a drink once a week. We have two cats, but if you prefer, we can have them stay at our friend's house during your stay at our house.

Quartier

Our house is a 10 minute drive from the Edmonton International airport. The Rutherford area is a new suburb area. There are many paved walking trails throughout our neighborhood which lead to picnicking areas, parks and ponds. Restaurants, a bakery and grocery store are a 5 minute drive or 20 minute walk away.

Known as 'Edmonton Festival City', we host over 30 annual festivals throughout the year celebrating sports, culture, music, visual arts and theatre. We have a cool music scene, with everything from country to hip-hop. We have a thriving arts & culture community; catch theatre one night, and Edmonton Symphony Orchestra the next. Enjoy a cool dining experience at one of Edmonton's many fine restaurants. Find time for shopping, ice skating and mini golf at West Edmonton Mall.

Our city offers countless cool attractions including historic Fort Edmonton Park, the Muttart Conservatory, and the Valley Zoo. You'll have to visit greater Edmonton's major attractions, such as Elk Island National Park, West Edmonton Mall, Ukrainian Cultural Heritage Village, Citadel Theatre, TELUS World of ScienceTM - Edmonton, The Royal Alberta Museum or Northlands. And, Edmonton is home to cool sports teams like the Edmonton Oilers and the Edmonton Eskimos.

In August we host the International Fringe festival just off Whyte Ave - a great place to shop during the day and grab a bite or party in the evening. We are a 15 minute drive to Whyte Ave and 20 minutes from the down town core. Heritage days are the first weekend in August.

A scenic 3 ½ hour drive (366 km) west of Edmonton via the TransCanada Yellowhead Highway, one of the easiest drives through the mountains, puts you at Jasper’s doorstep. Enjoy historic sites, cross country skiing, hiking, skating, wildlife viewing and Marmot Basin for downhill skiing and snowboarding. À propos de nous

We are Serena and Colin and we want to travel more before we settle down and have kids. We are doing a 6 month trip this year and want to include as many home exchanges as possible, so please exchange with us. Our 6 month trip will start in August 2009 and will include The UK, France, Greece, Germany, Italy, China, Japan, Thailand and finally end in the Philippines in January 2010.

In the past, we've been to the Philippines, Cuba-Havana and Varadero, the Dominican Republic (where we were married), Mexico, New York, Washington, Boston, South Carolina, California, and Georgia. In the summer of 2007, we also did a 3 week motorcycle trip through Western Canada and the US.
