Maison

We live in le Havre, Normandy, in a sunny and spacious loft with 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a modern and fully equipped kitchen. The vast living-room opens onto a south-facing 42 m² courtyard (but with no view, except houses). There is a desk with office equipment (wifi connexion) on a mezzanine just above the kitchen. There is a garage with a car and 4 bicycles (with one baby seat) at your disposal. Our loft is a very quiet and pleasant place to live in.
Le Havre is a modern city of 200,000 inhabitants which has belonged to the UNESCO World Heritage since 2006 : the town centre was rebuilt by the famous French architect Auguste Perret after WW2. Being a large town open to the sea (there is a vast sand and shingle beach), Le Havre offers a pleasant living environment with numerous museums (including a national modern art museum), cultural centres (it is a landmark of modern architecture with buildings designed by Oscar Niemeyer or Jean Nouvel), large green areas, forests and parks. It has the advantage of being close to places which are famous world-wide like Etretat (20mn driving), Honfleur (20 mn), Deauville and Rouen (1 hour), Paris (2 hours). Quartier

Our loft is located 100 metres away from the beach, in a village-like neighborhood of Le Havre. It is very close to a church, all kinds of shops (including 4 bakeries!), bars and restaurants. It is a few minutes walking distance from a lovely park and a shopping centre and there are many bus stops if you don't want to walk. The area is very quiet and safe and is one of the most attractive areas in the city. Between March and October you can eat or drink in lovely little restaurants on the beach. There is an outdoor skate park close to the beach. Every summer, there is also a festival of open-air theater on the beach.

À propos de nous

We are a couple with a five-year-old daughter and expecting a second daughter. I am an English teacher and my husband is an electrical engineer. We are art lovers : we are interested in all kinds of music, literature, drama, cinema, painting, scuplture, architecture, design. We love reading, going out and travelling. Discovering new places, new cultures and people is our leading motivation. My husband is an amateur actor who regularly features in local events and plays on different regional stages. We are dynamic, outgoing people.

Destination

We would be interested in a three or four-week exchange over the summer.
We would favour English-speaking countries such as The united-States, Australia or Canada. But we are also interested in Asian countries more particularly Japan, Thailand, Cambodia.
