Maison

1926 Dutch Colonial home with three bedrooms, 2 1/2 bathrooms, located just over 300 steps to mass transit (MAX line) for riding into downtown Portland. Located in an inner Northeast Portland neighborhood with a park at the end of the street, this home is very warm and inviting. There are three bedrooms and a bath/shower upstairs, with one queen and two double beds. The main floor has living, dining, and 1/2 bath with a large, open kitchen featuring an island, gas cooktop, micro/convection oven, baking oven, window seats and marble and granite counters. There is a covered deck off the kitchen. Basement includes another bedroom and bathroom, with a new queen sized bed, and full laundry room. There is a special toy/sun room just off the living room which is stocked with small children's toys and books for the little ones. The house has air conditioning and a gas fireplace. We have no pets in our home.
What you will love about Portland are the many, many wonderful restaurants, the waterfront, the festivals, the Pearl District, the Art Museum......and on and on.

Portland is a city of community neighborhoods. The neighborhood we live in is mixed, older residential with all ages and both single and multi-unit residences. Our area is located between Mt. Tabor and Rose City. Mt. Tabor is a beautiful park surrounding a reservoir at the top. Rose City has a nice golf course, also within walking distance. Each community has it's own flavor, including restaurants, coffee houses, shops, theatres. We are not far from Fremont, Hawthorne, Hollywood and Laurelhurst areas. A grocery store is nearby, as are gas stations and all the things one finds in the city. My grandchildren love to go to the park at the end of the block where there is a fenced dog park. The park is the site of football, soccer and baseball games as well as assorted play equiptment.

Nearly retired professional woman who has worked in the mental health field. I have traveled in Europe, Eastern Europe, Canada, Mexico, Jamaica, and the U.S. and would enjoy more travel to new destinations or reacquainting with old. I have grandchildren, whom I would eventually hope to take along, one or two at a time. Oregon is my favorite place in the world, so traveling always brings that home to me when I return. What you will love about Oregon is the greenery, the openess, the great location of Portland near beaches, mountains and deserts. Washington state is nearby. Portland is a town becoming known for it's diverse and wonderful restaurants, neighborhoods and communities. Outdoor concerts and festivals fill the summer, and can occur in neighborhood parks, at the zoo, on the waterfront or in comfortable venues. Tour wineries or sample microbrews, visit the beach, museums, OMSI, hike, camp, fish and sight-see. My home provides comfortable surroundings to return to. Children are welcome. Flat screen TV with Wii, Netflix, Computer access, a park at the end of the street, and entrance to the major freeway within two minute drive. I have a newer, automatic, Prius which saves on gas and is a dream to drive. Come relax and get to know Oregon. You won't be disappointed!

Destination

I have completed an exchange in the Cote d'Azur and loved it.
I would like to exchange again in 2011, with preference to UK, Italy, Greece, Canada, or warm climates such as Carribean, etc. Must be simultaneous exchange. Open to all suggestions!
