This home is in Baltimore "city" but has a delightfully pastoral feel. This neighborhood is in the hisoric register because it was concieved and developed by Fredrick Law Olmstead, the Landscape Architect of Central Park (in New York.) The main thouroughfare has large treed medians and there are charming "paths" through the blocks and alleys for strolling. All of the homes in the highly sought after area are lovely, but the street were we live is truly remarkable. It is called Goodwood Gardens and it is just one block long. All of the homes are magnificent and at least 100 years old, so the trees and gardens are mature and settled. There are old stone walls with 1/2 pillars marking the enterance paths to each home. Yet with all the grandure the homes are lived in and approachable. It is a great neighborhood for walking and biking. The first "shopping center" in America is three blocks away. It is a quaint little timber beamed building with a high-end antique store, small bank branch, office and a terrific little french bistro (Petite Louis.) 10 more blocks up is another little more modern retail center with a grocery store, children's book store, gift shop, pharmacy and starbucks coffee. It is a very civilized, lovely neighborhood - very old fashioned, but sophisticated. Yet just a few blocks in the other direction takes you to more shopping options: Cross Keys is a very swank, but understated, open air center. Hamden is a funky restaurant/shopping area in an emerging city neighborhood. Driving, the the best of Baltimore (staduims, restaurants, downtown, museums, harborfront, little Italy, etc . .) is 5-12 minutes away. Be on the expresssway in 4 minutes and the train station in 7-10. The charming and historic capital, Annapolis is 40 minutes away and boasts great shopping, sailing, fishing, tours of the Naval academy, etc. Washington DC is 50 minutes away. Philladelphia is two hours and New York is three and a half hours away (both, less by train.) Fab!

I am a 47 year old painter and sculpture from Chicago, Il. My husband is a builder/developer who is a fourth generation Baltimorean. We have three girls - two are independant, having finished college, they live on their own. The youngest one is in Middle School. We love to travel and take several big trips every year as well as frequent long weekend jaunts. My husband plays golf, I play tennis, we are very involved in the community. I sit on the Board of the Child Abuse prevention agency and the Peabody Institute (America's oldest Music Conservatory,) which is also a part of Johns Hopkins Uiniversity. I love my garden, but have someone take care of it for me now, because I discovered I love it even more when it's not breaking my back! We love great food and wine and frequently travel around that premise. We have two cats and Dog. We have great friends and are very social so we entertain frequently in our home - It's ideal for that. We speak English, a bit of French and traveller's spanish.
