We are proud to have designed this as a spacious well-appointed retirement home with all modern amenities and the latest heating/cooling climate control system. It is a 4 year old single level dwelling with ease of internal access. While our home is not 'child-friendly' (too many ornaments, breakables, etc.) we are amenable to older teens/adult children in the party or say 2 to 3 couples.
Our large master bedroom has 2 comfortable armchairs and wonderful window views plus adjoining 3 piece ensuite bathroom. Bedroom 2 has a double bed and bedroom 3 has 2 twin (single) beds. They are served with a handy 4 piece bathroom and close to the living area is another 2 piece guest toilet. We have a formal dining area combined with a cozy living/lounge room with an enclosed TV/DVD in the wall unit. The award-winning kitchen is a caterer's delight with 5 burner gas stove and all other modern appliances. It is open to an informal dining/family area with another large TV. From here, east & west patio doors lead onto an expansive private outdoor patio area which has great northern (southern hemisphere-sunny aspect) views over a golf course in the valley below with urban views on the far side. During the long pleasant summers there are ample choices of outdoor seating/dining in 5 separate arrangements and we have a new top-of-line barbecue. Our home is on a large 3/4 acre lot located in a lifestyle subdivision within the Tauranga city boundary. It is only a 3 minute drive to the local suburban village that has all necessary amenities, 12 minutes to our beautiful harbour & Pacific Ocean beaches and 15 minutes to the city centre.

Tauranga is a city of over 100,000 located on the east coast of North Island just over 2 hours drive south-east of Auckland. This region has plenty to offer the overseas tourist with a diversity of spectacular scenery, many good local restaurants/cafes, bars and shops, nearby wonderful uncluttered beaches, great hiking, many golf courses and an abundance of other outdoor & watersport activities. It is at the centre of NZ's major kiwifruit & avocado growing industry. We are only 40 minutes drive away from famed Rotorua thermal area (mini Yellowstone Park) and 2 hours south to Taupo & NZ's largest lake backdropped by 3 magnificent mountains/skifields. For these reasons Tauranga and environs is regarded as the vacation mecca for New Zealanders and international tourists.

We are an active married couple having both retired from the pharmaceutical industry after living the last 25 years in Canada. We both enjoy cooking & entertaing family/friends, gardening, long strolls and reading plus we are both ardent hobbyists. We are blessed with wonderful neighbours in a quiet friendly street. Our eldest daughter lives just 20 minutes away to assist if necessary with house, local and tourist information tips. We enjoy vacations with a cultural diversity and have never done a home exchange before but are keen to give it a try. Presently we are seeking a home exchange some time through 2009 or even looking at 2010 also. Because we are retired we have flexibility in trip timing, however we would prefer to home exchange during the northern hemisphere spring or fall (autumn) and to western Australia anytime.
