Sleeps 14 very comfortably IN SPACIOUS BEDROOMS. Situated 60 kilometres south of Poitiers, mid-way between the medieval towns of Confolens and L’Ile Jourdain. Les Vignes nestles in 1 acre of its own land and is surrounded by fields, valleys and woodland. The property has stunning views and complete calm - yet is only two minutes from Availles Limousine and the river La Vienne.
Private piece of land for fishing.
30 minutes to Golf - St Junien.
ACCOMMODATION:
Five VERY LARGE bedrooms - 2 Queen; 1 Double; 1 Twin; 46 square metre “Children’s Dormitory” with six beds - all elegantly furnished. 2 large bathrooms; 1 large shower room. Separate toilet. Large kitchen, fully equipped with top quality appliances. Utility room. 60 square metre lounge with stone fireplace. TV and Video. French windows open onto a beauutifully panoramic south-facing terrace. Garden furniture. Table tennis. Sorry, no pets. Guests are asked to smoke outside only.

Les Vignes de Vareilles is our second home: we love it and hope that you will too. The farmhouse offers the whole family an opportunity to relax in completely self-contained surroundings. The large garden, with cultivated areas, “wild” areas, small wood and views over the valley, gives children a place in which to play and explore. The pool, with its calming views, lets parents take it easy.

Quartier

Availles Limouzine is situated on La Vienne, certainly one of France's most beautiful rivers. It is wide, slow flowing, and flanked by stunning scenery. Unlike other waterways, La Vienne is always full; and its banks are covered with trees and lush vegetation.
Availles itself sits across one of the widest, calmest parts of the river, and is famed for its fishing.
Many areas of France have attractive homes and pleasant countryside, but are completely flat. La Vienne is all hillside and forest views. The outlook from Les Vignes de Vareilles (valley, hillside, forest and the river in the distance) is breathtaking. You open the curtains and are instantly in a good mood. Birds of prey and other wildlife abound; and it is not unusual to see a deer running past the house.
Architecturally, the area is a pleasant mix of isolated farmhouses, small villages, larger 'bourg' and big towns such as Confolens, L'Isle Jourdain and Charroux - all separated by attractive fields and valleys. Just driving around is a joy.
If you like seasons, particularly a warm summer, Availles is great. Poitou Charente is the micro-climate of France – a little cooler in winter, much warmer in summer.
Eating in the region is fabulous. Restaurants serve delicious, locally produced food at low prices; and the Hotel de la Poste in Availles is one of the best around.
For people who want to use the area as a base, or have regular visitors from abroad, there are airports only 50k away - at Poitiers and Limoges. 2 hours by train (TGV) from Paris & 30 minutes from Tours (Loire valley).

À propos de nous

We live in Brighton, England and our french farmhouse is our holiday home. I am french (Sonia), teach french in a school for girls, my english husband, Martin is a writer and our 13 years old son Adam is a great musician (www.adamdavismusic.co.uk). I have a very large family in Paris and Tours so most of our holidays are spent in France. However, we will be in Gibraltar (with my nephew who works there) in August and would like to stay somewhere in Spain for 1 week(max. 3 hours drive) and 1 week in Tangiers. In Oct 2008 we are hoping to go to the US. (California, Florida, Nevada or NYC ) . Our house is available anytime this year except from 31 july to 18 august. My son and I are allergic to cats, we would therefore need an animal free house.
