Maison

100 yr old, newly renovated semi-detached whinstone house located in the beautiful village of Innerleithen. This house has been returned to its original victorian beauty, with all the mod- cons. Two beautiful and useable fireplaces, as well as full central heating, this house offers spacious accommodation for up to 6 adults in three double bedrooms. There is also a 4th bedroom, a nursery with a cot for a baby or toddler. Outside, there is a BBQ with outdoor furniture, perfect for enjoying the hot scottish summer! The garden is large with enough lawn for games. Indoors, there is satellite TV, and a Wireless Broadband connection, not to mention a Playstation 2 on a second TV, just right for teenagers.

Quartier

Our house is located in a very quiet neighbourhood, with lovely neighbours. It is very close to the high street shops, just a 5 minute stroll up the road. The bus stop is 100m away, and buses go to edinburgh, or to the historic village of Melrose, on an hourly basis. There are many beautiful walks nearby, which will take you into the surrounding hills, giving spectacular views. The famous downhill mountain biking trail of Innerleithen is about 500m away, as well as Glentress where there are both mountain biking trails, and hiking tracks just a few kilometres away.
There are many things to see in Innerleithen, all within walking distance. St Ronans Wells and visitor centre, Traquair House -the oldest inhabited house in Scotland with a rich royal, history and the beautiful river Tweed, running right by Innerleithen. Sir Walter Scott's Residence is located near Melrose, the home of Rugby 7's, where it is reported that Robert the Bruce's Heart is buried in the Abbey.
For eating and drinking - there are plenty of Traditional Scottish pubs within walking distance of our house. 6 at last count!

We are a young couple, with a baby due in September. I am a high school teacher and my husband has his own handyman business with his brother.

I am Australian, but have lived in the Scottish Borders for 4.5 years with my husband who is from the Scottish Borders. We are keen travellers, and like to get away as often as we can.

We love walking in the hills surrounding our house, and as we have a dog, we do that everyday, rain, hail or shine! My husband is a keen mountain biker, and became quite keen, after experiencing the splendid tracks, created by volunteers, near to our home.

Destination

We are interested in Weekend and week-long exchanges within Europe and Great Britain.
