Maison

This is a vintage colonial home built in the twenties located one half block from a private beach on Long Island Sound. From the deck and enclosed porch there are waterviews. We enjoy watching the boats go by. Our house has 5 bedrooms, but two are used as studies. We have two full baths upstairs and a half bath downstairs. The master bedroom includes a private bath. A woodstove in the living room is available during the colder months. Our kitchen is modern with granite countertops and attractive cabinets. It's a good kitchen for cooking. Off of the kitchen, there is a formal dining room. The home is nicely decorated and furnished in a traditional style. We have a large, well maintained yard with lovely plantings.

Quartier

Our neighborhood is delightful because of the proximity to Long Island Sound. Ocean breezes keep it cool in the warm weather and temperate in the cold weather. The houses are mostly traditional styles and well maintained. It is a quiet neighborhood with most of the neighbors either retired or busy professionals. It is a great place for long walks along the sea. Sailing is a very important sport and there is a small yacht club nearby. We are only a mile to the center of town which has a great variety of small ethnic restaurants and some interesting shops. We are also a very short drive to lovely parks and wooded hiking areas.

New London is an old whaling city that has a train station, bus terminal and ferries to Block Island and Long Island. In the historic district, there are many very old buildings now used as shops and apartments. There is a wide variety of cultural events available in town and we are the home of three colleges (Connecticut College, the United States Coast Guard Academy and Mitchell College). Many cultural and recreational events are available through these colleges.

For those interested in gambling, Broadway Shows and elegant eateries and shops, there are two casinos about a half hour drive from town.

My husband is a very recently retired physician, and I am active in real estate. We are both involved with the Rotary Club and the Thames Yacht Club. My husband loves to sail and to garden. I enjoy Garden Club activities and the American Association of University Women. I love to cook and entertain and to spend time with our family which includes five grandchildren. We are both avid readers and my husband is a history buff.

Born and raised in Argentina, my husband is fluent in Spanish. We spend time there every year and recently enjoyed a two month holiday in the country, Chile and Uruguy last winter. We have travelled a great deal in Europe and want to spend longer blocks of time there.
