Maison

Our appartment is located on the 5th floor in the center of Mechelen, a city of 80.000 inhabitants in Belgium. From the living room and the terrace you have a magnificent view over the entire city.
Everything you might need is within a couple minutes walk: shops, restaurants, market, historical center, cathedral, train station, ...

The appartment is modern, sunny and has all necessary commodities such as:
-Cable TV (DVD/Wii/Xbox)
-Wireless internet (laptop available for use)
-New kitchen: gas fire, dishwasher, oven, microwave, espresso machine
-Washing machine and dryer
-2 small terraces
-1 bathroom with shower
-2 bedrooms. 1 with a large double bed, 1 with a couch that unfolds to a double bed
-Elevator

-Car (Ford Focus) can be included in exchange
-2 bicycles

Quartier

Located in the centre of Mechelen, exactly in between Antwerp and Brussels (both a 20min drive), this is a perfect location if you want to visit Belgium (whole of Belgium is max 1.5h drive) or even for a visit of Western Europe (Paris: 3h, Amsterdam: 2h, London 5h, etc... - Some even faster by train).

The appartment building is in a very quiet street, and the easiest way to get around is on foot or by bike. (everything is accessible by car, but parking can be difficult)
The appartment itself is on the rear side of the building, facing the large public garden. This guarantees a relaxed environment, even in the center of the city.

À propos de nous

We are a couple in our late 20-ies. Nik is a software analyst and Marijke works as an investment advisor with a bank.

We both like to travel, nearby or further away. We've already done a lot of places in Europe, and have enjoyed a very successfull exchange to Canada.

We speak fluent Dutch, English and French plus a bit of German.

Destination

Our jobs enable us to be quite flexible on our vacation planning so anything goes when planned in advance.

As we already did a "big" trip to the US/Canada last year, we are planning a closer location for 2010 (preferably within Europe).
We are interested to visit parts of Europe we haven't seen (a lot of) yet: Scandinavia, UK, Ireland, Italy. For these locations we are also interested in shorter exchanges (weekend, long weekend).

But ultimately, we are open to any offers.
