Maison

The apartment consists of bedroom, living room, bathroom and kitchen - all recently restored.
The living room overlooks the street and a small square with lime trees and a cafe. It is furnished with, among other things, a sofa arrangement and a dining table that can be converted so that it seats 8 people.
From the bedroom and kitchen there is a view of a large courtyard with lots of green areas and trees that brings a bit of nature into the city. From the kitchen a french door opens up onto the courtyard and allows you to take your meals at a cafe table in the fresh air. The courtyard has lawns and garden furniture and is ideal if you wish to barbeque or take our meals outside in summer.
The entire apartment is decorated in light materials, colors and designs. Because there are no buildings directly opposite, a lot of natural sunlight is allowed into the apartment - both morning and evening.

Quartier

My apartment is situated in a part of Copenhagen called Vesterbro that is characterized by a lot of diversity, activity and life. It is a happy mixture of students, different ethnic groups and young families - that all contribute to a great atmosphere.
Because of the different ethnicities in the area there are many restaurants and local shops of various regionalities. You are also right in the middle of some of Copenhagens best nightlife with indie bars, music venues and clubs. In the day you can enjoy the shopping opportunities in the many small and personal shops of the area - you won't find many of the mainstream chain stores in this particular part of town... There are a great deal of cafes both small and cosy and very smart - there is something for just about every fancy. Within walking distance you can find several squares and parks where you can relax and enjoy a, hopefully, sunny day.
You are approximately in a 15 minute walking distance from the centre of Copenhagen and the city hall. You can easily get around by public transportation - there are bus stops very close by the apartment.

À propos de nous

I am a female student, 22 years old, studying ethnology at the University of Copenhagen. Ethnology is about cultural analysis and history, particularly in Europe - so one of my great interests is to learn cultural habits and histories where ever I go. because of this interest I work at the National Museum of Denmark - where I give guided tours and teach school classes about danish rural history.
More specifically I am very interested in food culture and cooking - both theoretically and practically... Which is why I have a very well-equipped kitchen and cookbook collection (in many different languages).
I live alone, but the apartment is furnished for two people - there should be no problems in that respect! I will be exchanging with a friend, a 25 year old female student.

Destination

I'm always open for suggestions - both on dates and places to visit. Try me...

In the spring 2009 I will be moving to New York to study and I would like to exchange my appartment with an appartment there, from january untill july.
