Maison

Our home was built in 2000 and is located in a very quiet and beautiful area. Our house has 3 floors. On the first floor you find the living and sitting room, kitchen, 1 bedroom, bathroom and storage room. The kitchen is fully equiped with all modern appliances, in the living room you find the TV (with dvd & vcr), hifi, computer with internet.
On the second floor you have 3 bedrooms and 1 bathroom.
On the top floor, which is the attic, you have 1 more bedroom. Our attick is our 'lounge room'. You find some cosy sofas, tv and dvd, fussballtable,... the kids love to be up there.

Our house is a warm, comfortable and cosy home. It's a modern house with a classic style. In our garden you find a terrace with a picnick table to eat outside. There's also a swing for the children.
In the shed are 4 bicycles, (two for adults - two for young teens).

Quartier

We live in a very nice place called Moerbeke, a quiet, little village which belongs to the small city of Geraardsbergen. About eight seven years ago we moved from a big city, to this beautiful place. It's magnificent here. We love it a lot. Behind our house are some fields and a small forest. We live in the countryside so there's green everywhere. However we don't live isolated. By car you can reach big cities like Brussels, Ghent, Mechelen in about 50 mins. A lot of smaller, but by no means less interesting, cities like Ninove or Aalst are about 15 - 25 mins away. We live near the border of the French speaking part of Belgium with its well-known Ardennes. The place where we live and the surrounding cities have a very rich history. There's lots of things to do and visit: e.g. visit the oldest Medieval hospital of Europe (15 mins), go biking (a lot of cyclers - pros as well as amateurs, love to cycle here), visit beautiful parks and forests or castles, have dinner in delicious restaurants, go shopping, play tennis or go for a swim, explore the city life ....
There's a recreation park 5 mins from our home, with a lake, swimming pools,sauna, a small beach area, tennis fields. You should definitely visit: the castle of Bouillon and its archeoscope, the prehistorical village of Aubechies (45mins), Hopital Notre-Dame à la Rose one of the oldest hospitals, historical cities Bruges and Tournai, the ruins of the monastry of Villers-la-ville,...


Besides all of this, our neighbours are great! Whenever you need help or just want to talk you can count on them.

Hi!

We are Ivo and Helena. We have three daughters, Tatiana (22), Stephanie (18) and Emily (11). I'm a security agent and my wife takes care of little children. Because of my wife's job, our house is filled with children's and baby toys! We are a busy family! I've just written a book about the history of Geraardsbergen and its surroundings, which doesn't leave much spare time left. We like to go for walks or ride our bikes. We love exploring historical places and enjoy nature. We like mountains as well as the beach, bustling cities as well as the quiet countryside. We also like to meet new people and explore new countries and cultures. All of us like to travel!

Destination

We are pretty tied up to the dates (from 1st to 15th of August) because of a prior home exchange that was cancelled on us. We had already bought our ferry tickets to the UK, when our exchange family, because of personal reasons, decided to cancel their exchange.

We would like to go to Scotland of somewhere in England, close to the Scottish border.
