My large 1 bedroom apartment has air conditioning, eat in kitchen, and a queen sized bed. There's a couch and futon for 2 additional guests (1 large, 1 medium) and walls of windows facing north and west. There are elevators, laundry room in building, security and service personnel. TV, internet, and all the rest. I've lived here 2 years, and it really feels like me: modern aesthetic, funky souvenirs from Malaysia to Marrakech.

Quartier

The apartment is in Manhattan, New York, in the vibrant Chelsea neighborhhood. Walking distance to 300 art galleries and 20 nightclubs. Endless cafes and shops. 1 block to supermarket, 2 blocks to subway. For the kids there are several playgrounds in this highly secure housing complex. As for our humble city, we offer Madison Square Garden, Central Park, Chelsea Piers, Hudson River Esplanade, and dozens of museums including the Manhattan Children's Museum and the NY Hall of Science for the kids. If you seek an escape from NY, I have a 4 door Pontiac Sunfire and a Harley Sportster which could be part of the swap. The car has a parking spot behind the building.

Sometimes I seek stimulation: Tokyo, Marrakech, Barcelona. Other times, the quiet of Nicaragua or St. Eustatius draw me in. In this case, the entire month of August, 2008, I seek the sun and surf of the Caribbean or Central America. On the other hand, an unexpected opportunity may be perfect: you never know!

I'm 44 and essentially mono-lingual. I'm the goofy one. My lady love is sophisticated, and she speaks bunches of languages. I haven't house-swapped before, but I visited my sister in a French Alps swap, and think that swapping is the best thing ever invented. It's also the premise of the mystery novel "Confess, Fletch" by Gregory McDonald. Just thought you might like to know that.
