Maison

Our apartment has tons of books, and lots of stuff for kids. It is an old apartment, neatly decorated and comfortable, on the 3rd floor of a quiet and friendly apartment building. We have a dishwasher, washing machine, clothes dryer. There is a communal courtyard which can be used for barbecuing and eating out in during the summer. It also has a sandy area for very young children, and plum trees.

Quartier

We live in the heart of Østerbro. Within a 4 block radius we have 3 major food outlets, fast food places, wonderful cafes, gourmet food shops, designer clothing shops, an indoor public pool, a major public park with a lake, the botanic gardens, public buses and the local train station. You can take a 20 minute walk downtown to the heart of Copenhagen, or go in the other direction to visit the little mermaid at the harbour. Short trips on local buses can land you at the zoo, the aquarium, etc. In July the Copenhagen Jazz Festival takes place, and there is music everywhere, and quite a bit is free.

Our neighborhood can be seen here on the google map. Nearby are many parks, lakes, and major downtown attractions kastellet (little mermaid), botanisk haven (botanic gardens), the Royal family's dwellings, etc.

À propos de nous

We are two adults, (late 40s), American + Danish, editor/teacher, IT software designer, two sons (10 + 8). Our children love school, sports, computer games, and playing in the school orchestra.

Destination

We have an exchange for the summer, but may consider offers for several days in October.

We are flexible---while we prefer areas within 25 km of the ocean as we want to enjoy the beach--but we might be happy with a big city, like Paris, Barcelona, etc. Our dates are for July as school holiday is only for the month of July. We have a summer house on the north coast if you'd prefer to swap your place for that. It is accessible by public transport, 1.5hrs travel time, same as in a car. It can sleep 6. There isn't a pool but there is a child friendly beach which has no deep trenches or wild water, is blue flag sanctioned (crystal clear water) but a good 20 minute walk. The public bus can get you there and back but coming back will take longer than walking. It may be possible for us to leave you bikes. A 10 minute walk in the opposite direction leads to a protected forest which could easily take a couple of days to make your way through, and has lovely verdent green spots for picnics. A major grocery chain is in the area --it is a longish walk, or quick bus ride. Photos upon request
