Maison

Our home is a spacious and comfortable 2 storey family house. Newly built, the house has seven bedrooms, with beds for 12, and three bathrooms.
The ground floor consists of a large open plan family area that opens onto a patio and the rear garden. The 3.3m high ceilings in this room keep it comfortable all summer (reverse cycle air-conditioning throughout the house is available for absolute scorchers). The family room contains a large screen TV, DVD, Sony PS2, XBox, two computers with internet access and a table football game. Another room has a TV, DVD, stereo, piano, drum-kit and a 4 octave xylophone. There is also a cello (1/4 size), guitar and flute if you wish to re-enact a Partridge Family holiday from US television. The kitchen has granite bench-tops, two-door fridge/freezer, gas oven & cook-top and a dishwasher. The other downstairs rooms are a double bedroom, bathroom (with WC, shower and hip-bath), laundry and double garage.
Upstairs has the main bedroom with a queen-sized bed, private balcony with tree top views and ensuite (bath, double shower and WC). There are four bedrooms and a child’s bedroom that also connects to the main bedroom. A bathroom upstairs has WC, shower and bath with spa jets.
Outdoor amenities include a BBQ, dining setting, swing-set, and trampoline. You are welcome to use our bicycles, fishing & sporting gear and camping equipment incl. 3-room tent. If you enjoy camping, you can also use our 4WD Land Cruiser to head out of Sydney.

Quartier

We are in the suburb of Pymble in Sydney’s leafy northern suburbs. Gordon railway station is 5 minutes away, with a bus stop at the door. The CBD is 25 minutes by train. Sydney’s northern beaches are 25-30 minutes by car and the Olympic stadium & pool are 15 minutes away. The local 50 m swimming pool is a two minute walk, and numerous tennis courts and golf courses are within a 5 minute drive.
While our suburb is very green with many mature trees, we are located on a busy road.

Possums and lorikeets are regular visitors to our back garden, while a blue-tongued lizard is a more occasional resident.

We are a married couple (Mark and Rizzy) in our forties with three children aged 16, 13 and 8 (2 girls, 1 boy). My wife and I both work with international banks.
This is our first go at house swapping and we are excited at the chance for a richer holiday experience, especially for our children, with an opportunity to "do as the Romans do".
We are looking to spend the period 14 December 2008 to 20 January 2009 in Europe (exact dates to be confirmed). Our first preference would be for somewhere handy to ski fields in the Alps, but other locations throughout Europe (incl UK) would be considered.
The house listed is our home, so if you are interested but the dates above do not suit, we would welcome enquiries about hospitality hosting. If you, your entire family or just your older children would like to stay with us, please contact us (space is definitely not a problem!).

Please note that we have a dog and bird as pets. While we anticipate farming these out to friends during our trip, please bear it in mind if allergies are an issue.

Destination

We are looking to visit Europe from mid December 2008 until late January 2009. We are open to swaps for all or part of this period.
We would very much welcome hospitality exchanges if you cannot visit Sydney in the same period - our house has plenty of room, and we are very easygoing. We would love to show you, or just your older children, around Sydney.
Our preference is for a place near to ski fields, but we are open to any offers.
