Maison

Our home is a twentyfive year old cedar wood house located on the hillside at Acacia Bay, overlooking Lake Taupo bay. The house has substantial outside decking and a low maintenance garden of native shrubs. It has courtyard parking for several cars and a two car garage under the house. We have lived in this home for fifteen years. We are very proud of it. It has an expansive and relaxing feel about it. It is designed for indoor/outdoor living. The front windows are wide paned and therefore offer a panoramic view of Lake Taupo and township. The front entrance of the house is on the lower level where there are two bedrooms, one bathroom and a living room. Stairs rise from the entrance foyer to the main living area on the upper level where there is modern kitchen opening out to a dining area and on to a lounging area. There are two double bedrooms, two bathrooms and a study on this level. However one bedroom and bathroom are divisible by a lockable door and are not available for swap use. The garden is low maintenance. There is no lawn area but just expansive decks and paving.

Quartier

Taupo is a small town situated on Lake Taupo in the centre of the North Island of New Zealand. It has a permanent population of 32,000 so therefore it is a relaxed place with no over crowding. However the population rises substantially in holiday periods. Acacia Bay, where we live, is a satellite urban area separated from town by a seven minute drive. The area provides interesting lakeside and bush walks. Acacia Bay is regarded as one of the better areas of the town. Taupo Lake is stocked with Rainbow trout and is a renowned fishery. There are good rivers within easy access giving much pleasure to anglers. From a tourist perspective, Taupo is seen as a mecca for golfers, anglers, off road cyclists, hikers, snow skiiers and young backpackers who are drawn to the bungy jumping, river rafting and sky diving. There are many cafes, bars and restaurants. Taupo is on the North Island' main north south highway. 'Google' Taupo to learn more about our pretty region of New Zealand.

My wife and I are now retired from the family business. We were self employed in the retail motor business for most of our lives. We came to Taupo originally in 1969 to set up business as a General Motors dealer. We have been here ever since. We have business interests in Japan and as a result have maintained an interest in things Japanese and have visited Japan countless times. We, Carolyn and Ted, have two adult sons in Australia and a daughter with three children in Taupo. Carolyn and Ted's primary interest at this time is travel. We are happy to also swap cars. Our current car is a Subaru Forester wagon. We also own a 7.4 metre Mercedes Benz based Winnebago motorhome that we also offer to swap for the use of a similar vehicle in another country. We are also happy to swap our home or motorhome for a canal barge.
