Maison

To see my home, go to classicrealtyindy.com and click on "about us" then "Hawaiian getaway" and take the virtual tour. This is a 3-bedroom, 1 1/2 bath house on the northern side of the island of Molokai in Hawaii. It has lots of open space, hardwood floors, many windows to catch the trade winds. It is filled with island-style furniture (rattan) and many works of art, including big cat prints of Frace' and Bateman, carvings and paintings by Danner, local artist originals of Patten, Johnson, and Buum as well as Brian Davis prints and original water colors of my own work.
The kitchen is well-stocked as I love to cook. It has just been remodeled with beautiful oak cabinets, stainless steel appliances and bamboo flooring. The neighbors are friendly, mostly middle-aged, most with pets (I have none right now). You need to rent a car as the nearest town, Kualapuu, is 2 miles away, and the main town is 8 miles away. It is a cool, quiet, friendly neighborhood.

Quartier

The neighborhood is quiet and serene, near the Kalaupapa peninsula where Father Damien ministered to Hansen's patients. Most neighbors enjoy doing their own yard work, with many tropical trees and flowers present. I have mango, avocado and banana trees with a date palm and hibiscus in the front yard.
The area is lovely, green, and has beautiful views (I have a large deck accessible from two of the bedrooms, with Moomomi beach visible as you have coffee or cocktails there).
While it is a small neighborhood, we all look out for one another, helping and sharing tools and baked goodies. The nearest post office and store are 2 miles away.

I am a divorced, retired psychologist but I still teach at the local branch of the U of HI; I'm currently teaching a class on Human Development. I love to read, bake bread and other goodies, and I collect art, as my art gallery of a home proves.
My daughter is a special-ed preschool teacher at the Kaunakakai school; my younger granddaughter is a kindergartner there (we're very close; she says the things she likes best about Molokai are the beach and Granny). My son-in-law is activities coordinator at the high school. My older granddaughter was valedictorian at the high school last year and now attends NYU.
I also enjoy shopping for vegetables and lovely island crafts at the Saturday morning market, "talking story" with friends and attending hula class.

Destination

I am traveling to Europe from May 17th through the end of June. I want to go to England, and France and am especially interested in finding a place to stay via exchange in France in June. Non-simultaneous exchange is certainly an option as I have other trips planned. The house is definitely available from May 17 to June 30 with other times easily arranged.
