Maison

Our home is comfortable, sunny and spacious. It is a penthouse on the 3rd and last floor with a large terrasse in a small building of 3 floors and 6 apartments. It is located in the nice and leafy district of Cairo, called Maadi. Maadi is a classy and safe area of Cairo, home of expatriates, embassadors and locals. We are 5 min by car to the Nile and 7 min by foot to the metro. We have 2 large bedrooms that sleep 2 each. All rooms have A/C. The apartment has a large kitchen with adjoining dining room. The terrasse is very enjoyable and overlooks the trees. we love spending time in our home, cooking and having friends over, it is warm and inviting. There is a guard at the enrance of the building 24h and 7 days. We also have a maid who comes 3 times a week.
Please note that you should avoid coming to Egypt between June and September its TOO hot! its 40 degres and you would not enjoy your stay.

I have been receiving lots of requests about our home! Please forgive me if I sometimes take some time to respond to you. I consider every request and do my best to write back everyone. It may take some time to do this.

Quartier

The apartment is located in Maadi (5kms of Old cairo) which is a classy residential suburb of Cairo, with villas and nice apartment set in gardens (many the residences of foreigners). Near Maadi is a prehistoric settlement (probably of the sixth millennium B.C.), first discovered in 1930, has recently been excavated. Maadi is one of the most beautifull area in Cairo to stay.

The neighbourhood is quiet and safe (close to embassies) with many trees all around (rare in Cairo). It is with walking distance to cafe, restaurants and shopping in Maadi. It is 20 minutes by car to the Pyramids and 25 min to the Egyptian museum.
We live at 1h 30 from the Red Sea by car Ain Shokna which is a sea resort with a Thalasso center.

À propos de nous

We are Aurelie and Andre a French-Australian couple in our early 30. We are expatriate in Cairo both working for Cadbury Egypt since August 2007. We have no children yet. We enjoy travelling and would like to go back to Melbourne where we are from, for a holiday in April 08 or go to France in summer. Our house in South Melbourne, Australia is rented so we can't stay there.
We have not done a home exchange before but are keen to try. We would like to be in contact via Skype or email in order to get to know our exchangers to see how best we can facilitate their stay in Cairo. We will provide with extensive information on the area, what to do and what to see. We have many guidebooks on Cairo and Egypt in french and english as well. We both love living in Cairo - there are so many things to do! Among which: Restaurants, cafes, Jazz Club, sight seeing, sport, 1 hour-cruise on the Nile near by etc etc... we will give you many tips and can help you with where to go and what to do if you want to visit other sites of Egypt Louxor, Aswan etc...We are sure you will enjoy your stay in our home
