Maison

This is a a modernised 4/5 bedroom house newly extended with quality features including solar hot water and solar electricity. The original Victorian house with 3 bedrooms connects to the extension with 2 bedrooms via a balcony overlooking the new kitchen. The main bedroom with en suite bathroom/shower is in the old house whilst there is an additional shower room and toilet serving the remaining bedrooms.
Downstairs is a large lounge dining room, large bright kitchen, second kitchen/utility room, toilet, study and garage/workshop.
Outside to the South there is a large garden with patio and brick bbq, a gazebo with second bbq, pond, small orchard and vegetable garden. This aspect of the house overlooks farmland backed by chalk downland. To the North the house overlooks farmland and forest across a garden and driveway to the road.

Quartier

Havenstreet is a quiet friendly village situated between the 2 main island towns of Newport and Ryde each a 10 minute drive or short cycle ride. Public transport is regular. The village is also the site of a steam railway attraction and has a pub with excellent dining. There are views all round over forest and chalk downland and many opportunities for walks or cycling, both road and trail. There are many beaches and fabulous coastal scenery within easy reach. Two thirds of the island is designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. This is a tourist destination and holiday island for good reason.
Across the Solent lie Portsmouth (with its historic naval attractions) and Southampton (an ancient walled city now boasting a Titanic museum) between 12 and 35 minutes away by frequent hovercraft or fast catamaran connections.

À propos de nous

Having recently retired we have just returned from 2 years work in Sri Lanka, taking 18 months to make the journey home travelling around Australia and New Zealand. We are generally interested in travel although more likely to prefer wild areas rather than cities. Areas with diving opportunities would be of interest but not essential.
Within the UK we would be interested in short exchanges to Oxford and London to visit daughters.
